Same here - I dont think it is the fault of anything - just brakes and water dont mix very well!! I have now adjsuted my brakes so that they have a minimal effect - just enough to slow the trailer, and hold it on an incline without the car attached, but enough to ensure that they dont bind. Every morning I use the boat, they stick for the first 3/4 times then they free themselves. I can live with that. Try adjusting the brakes about 1/10 of a turn each time - it is surpirsing how much effecxt this has. AF

I went out with BW, with Rich and Gordon Moore as crew. We started down Blood Alley way, but after an hour nothing, so we shot round to Rockley, which has always been a good bet for me in the past. Both Gordon and I managed one here, both about 1lb 13oz, so not massive, but an ellusive flounder nonetheless! We tried up at Wareham, with Rich finally catching one, down off Baiter, off the Ferry Terminal and fianlly in Holes Bay. A very hard day fish wise, but was great to get out again, great company and a good laugh. The only bad thing about the day was that I left my jumper and fleece in the Mariner Club....is anyone going down this week? If so it was a green Bourneouth Fishing Lodge sweatshirt and a green 'Chub' Fleece. Thanks AF
  3. Yep, Martin is right. My 5hp Aux has a pin with a t piece on the end - you set the engine to roughly 90degs and then place in the bar - voila' no need for a wedge! AF
  4. I need a new set of Mariner decals for my 5hp aux engine.... I cant find anywhere on the web that sells them, any idea what they cost etc.... I will go to Tony at Select if not, but Id rather order them online of I could. Anyone help?

Why not work with Dave Mayne? He the fisheries officer for our region/???.....
  7. Gordon see my last post - but if you wanted to come aboard BW, Im sure I could squeeze 3 on.....
  8. Gordon, if you go out Sunday many of the club boats will be out fishing the castaways flounder comp, we would be only too happy to guide you - I am even happy for you to follow me down and shadow me for the day. Adam
  9. Hi Duncan, Glad to hear from you again!! Good news about the boat, cant wait to see it! I would have to question the need for a wedge - I havent ever seen one used for an Aux bracket?? I think you went for the Samuari didnt you? If so I woudl guess that the transom angle is very similar to the rest of the 'similar' bread, and therefore as a Warrior. Mine had no wedge, and yes, whilst it sits at a slight angle, when the engine is tilts down on the bracket it is hardly noticable and drives the boat fine. I would call Seahog just to play safe, but Im 99% confident you wont need one, just bolt on in and away you go - one tip though, I have a small piece of varnished marine ply that has been used inside the transom as a backing plate to take the pressure from the bolts - worth thinking about. AF
  10. Was very tempted - but had to much to do at work...
  11. ....and those were just my searches!!! Yep, I agree Charlie, sat in the office looking at clear skyes and no wind!!! Wishing BW was out there! Im planning a few more Weymouth trips this year. Bring on the spring!
  12. FOX: Highly rated in the coarse sector - grown massively over the past 10 years, started making bedchairs for carp fishing and now do almost everything you need for fishing. The sea tackle is getting good press at the moment, esp. the lower end of the market, which traditionaly has always been easier to target for a newcomer. The top end of the market is very slow moving with tried and tested items staying put....TLD, TDX, Penn International, Anteres etc all being well established names. Worth looking at though, and keep an eye on it. Bournemouth Fishing Lodge does a good line of Fox gear and he has a few of the sea rods in. AF
  13. Paul - many trailers can be adjusted - Les gets his 165 in a normal garage, the boat just sits a bit lower on the bunks. I think a strikeliner would be a good move for your budget.
  14. Hi Sinbad, Powersticks are cracking rods - they have a glass tip I think which gives them good bite detection. I havent used one though. I am a full convert to the Abu Conolons. The 12lber is my fav. rod. It is happy with small sole and bream in shallow water with just a few onces of lead, but equally I have taken eels over 20lb on it as it has a decent backbone - it is 7' 8" I think, Poingdestres in Soton do them for about 65 quid I think. AF
  15. No not yet - Charlie is refering to 'Sam' in last months issue. Should be any day now...
  16. Sometimes!!!.....oh to be back at school!...those were the days!!

  19. Manic Moore, As Charlie says the weather looks reasonable for Thurs - I have a day off, and was considering giving the boat a run our as I aint been for almost 2 months!! Ill have a look at the weather 2moro and let youy know if you want to crew?? I think you live in Ringwood? Handy for me as I live in Verwood! Adam
  20. How do you distinguis between a three bearded and a five bearded rocking??....I would have thought that was plainly obvious - count the 'beards' or barbels for heavens sake!!!! Honestly!!!
  21. Speak for yourself you fat B$%
  22. I think Rocking are regarded as a mini species - therefore we dont have a record for it. Charlie will confirm?

Must show your workings for full marks!!
  24. I think I will give it a bash also - Rich do you wanna crew for me? Bw hasnt been out for a while, so even though its floundering, it will be a bit of fresh air. AF
