  1. We all know what the REAL solution should be - even those who rely on the sea, but their is still too much at stake 'in the wings' to ban fishing in certian areas. Whole industries, and the salaries of the 'fat cats' rest on these decisions. It is these 'fat cats' who are influential in the decison making process, and whether this is right or wrong, thats the way it is at present. It will take time, and defiantly more damage to eco systems, but things WILL change, that I am sure of. Adam

    IOW TRIP

I think we are launching from Lymington and headed for the IOW area....no specific mark! !!!! Mark - I only live about 20 mins away from Lymington and 35 mins from Poole, so it makes sense for me to meet you at the slip. Im sure James will give you a hand? I reckon an early start - so meet at the slip for 6.30am??
  4. As Mark says Kam - you have to give it a shot! Just follow a few of the other boats and have a crack. Flounder fishing is always done in the harbour this time of year, so it is usually calm, even on a windy day. You can usualy find shelter behind one of the headlands or islands and the fishing is pretty relaxing. Light weights and rods are the order of the day! Come on over!!!
  5. Well done Alan! Sounds like you had a cracking day! - I cant believe the bass are still in and readily hitting the Storm lures! I may give it a crack on Fri??
  6. Bob - Im on holiday again Friday....same time, ....same place??

    Hi All

Thanks Charlie - Ive got the PM, things are a little hectic at the moment. It is a very definate possibility - so maybe we will speak in the new year??
  8. And finally - look at the size of the head!! The feet in the picture are Rachael's!!! A 2lb cuttle went in without touching the sides!
  9. The cod in my right hand is 13lb!! Gives you a sense of how big the '31' was!!
  10. Sorry to bore you all - but Paul D has only just fixed my computer so been unable to post any piccies of the beast! This was taken at 5pm when we got back and has come out a little better than the piccies on the boat.
  11. Well, what can I say?....it doesnt happen very often, but when it does its one of those days that you remember for ages!!! Bob and I were both fed up with hearing James hauling, so with a superb forecast we both booked a day off and planned a trip today. Up at 4.30am, it was -5c outside, and pitch black - must be mad!!! I met bob at the slip at 6am, and we launched BW into a mirror like sea - 20 mins later and we are anchored S of the Needles.....ready for the flood tide at 8.00am The whiting were evident from the start, all between 1lb and 2lb! At about 9.00am Im sitting in the cabin cooking bacon for brecky when my triple squid rod slowly pulls over - rush out to it, and decent fish nods for the bottom - COD!!! we both shout. After a fantastic fight in a reasonable tide this MASSIVE shape appears!!! Bob struggled to get the whole fish in the net - and she went 31lb 12oz on the boat!!! WHAT A BEAST!!!!! 20 mins later and 'no cod fuller' starts to change his name! - a take that almost snapped the rod had him pulling in a beauty at just over 14lb!!!! AND he kissed me!!! (Mark B - I sympathise!!) Just as bob hools this cod, my rods off again and a 33lb Eel is the culprit!! Another 20 mins and Bob is in again!!!! This time a lovely clean 7lb fish!! About an hour later and Im off again - this time a lovely 13lber!!! WE ARE IN HEAVEN!!!! Bob finishes with a superb 9lb Pollock - at to this lot over 20 whiting to 2lb and a 3lb Spotted ray and we had a cracking day - RED LETTER!!! Had the biggie officially weighed at Loni's in Xchurch at 31lb dead - Chris Clarke turned up to do photos for the Echo etc.... Just finished filleting the beasts - had 10 plates of fish!!!! Photos to follow......
  12. Bit like the idea for guys that sods the idea of making a noise - the objective is just to get it IN the pan!!!....a small spider sticker on the porcelin...focuses the mind, and men always like to have something to aim at! God - what DO we talk about on the forum!!!

Hi Charlie - I am responsible for the trail aways and comps against other clubs. Next year we have a comp with Burnham, so a comp with your guys is not out of the question. If you would like to take things further - PM me and Ill send you my email address to discuss the possibility. Adam Franklin PBSBAC - Trail-away Commadore

  21. People await to check in - during the early morning darkness!
  22. Just a few snaps from Sunday's open comp...
  23. Blue Warrior's Day: I too awoke at a stupidly early hour - 4.30? to load the car and leave in time to get to the slip to help out. As Martin said, many hands made light work this year, and very quickly people were signing in and departing. As the forecast was for winds to increase to F6 later and I had to be back to help with the scales the plan was to head offshore in search of eels, that I felt would give us the best chance of a specimen round and heaviest fish. A good run out at nearly flat out saw us anchored and fishing by 9.00am. A big tide meant at least 2lb was needed to hold. No doggies was encouraging...I soon had 2 fat pout onboard at 2lb apiece. James that had an eels take, but his line parted upon striking (thought the National Boat Champ would have known better! ) It was then my turn, and the nod nod fight had me convinced Mr Cod was to blame - no such luck as a small double strap came aboard. It was then an hour or so before Golden Balls hooks his winning fish - a cracking 38lb eel. We sacked it and tethered it to the boat for the rest of the day - but as he caught it at about 10am - it was a little too long, and unfortunatly it didnt survive. So apart from the 1 big eel, we had only 5 bites between ourselves all day - pretty poor. The 6 mile run back to Old Harry wasnt fun into the teeth of a F6 - struggled to make 6 knots all the way. Well done to all involved - personally I was knackered afterwards and getting up at 4.30am this morning for work was even harder!! Roll on next year!
  24. ....Im lost!....where the hell does he get the strange piccies from???!!!
  25. Just checked all the forecasts - now looking like 4-6 NW, sea state moderate - !!!
