  1. Sod it, I'm in. will have to get the missus to cover for the first hour or so. Anyone tell me where is the pontoon and how to get there? What gear do we need?
  2. It'll take me a good hour from Portsmouth docks to Andover, plus it's a Fri afternoon, traffics will be busy on the M27+M3. Langstone is gonna be another 20-30mins on top. Hopefully I can spend 5 mins having a shower before I go to the shop. Don't think the customers would appreciate me smelling like a box of fish serving them.....

    Sat 7th

A catch is a catch, a day with a catch is a good day.
  4. Charlie, I would love to come but that depends on where the boat is leaving from, as I'll need to be back at work on 18:00 at the very latest.
  5. I have looked into the Trooper, but a few who had driven said it's quite hard to drive around town, which is what I will do. Both the 3.1 and 3.0 td was the most powerful diesel unit at the time of their launch.
  6. You might yet do. There's rumours Ikea is looking into the possibility of a store in the south west. Blandford is one site they are considering.
  7. Which one of the 3 cars are you refering to? Are you implying all 3 will needs it?
  8. I'm no engine expert, but there isn't much difference between flooring the gas pedal whether it's in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th, end of the day, you are thrashing the balls off it (in a matter of facts, it's less damaging in 5th as the max rev in top gear is usually lower than the rest). Just think boy racers, who redline the engines all the time, would you buy any car off them?
  9. An extra wreck wouldn't do it any harm.....
  10. Don't you know who Jimbo is? He's a bloke who like fishing......
  11. Yeah... you're right, so what's going on then?
  12. Anyone seen the forecast for this weekend? Metcheck for Portland Bill Hope the Alderney boys get back before it kicks off.
  13. The Merc 100 is being picked up tomorrow and boat in next week for a new Tohatsu TLDi 90. Better economy and a lot quieter. 6-7 g/h rather than the 10 g/h on the Merc.
  14. Paul you don't want to be on wot for any extended time anyhow. 4 strokes are not designed to be driven at wot unless you want engine damage.
  15. How far is it? You'll need lots of tanks....
  16. Nice looking boat.
  17. Don't even know what she looked like, mike
  18. Duncan, have you seen the Smart tabs? No electric or hydrolics. Mart Tabs Been reading about alot of it over at the iboats site, think they are about
  19. As bob said it's probably uneven weigh on the boat. Next time when you are out, put a bloke on the opposite side to counteract the effect. You would be surprise how little weigh can upset the balance, a pair of batteries is all that take. Is the boat leaning to the right? If it is, it can be torque steer, where the prop is turning the boat to the right. There is a trim anode on the leg of the outboard which will compensate.
  20. Thanks Duncan, been looking at those too, but budget doesn't stretch that far as I don't want to borrow for the car.

    Buying Small Boat

  23. Not looking to spend a great deal on this car, around
  24. 1) Mitsubishi Shogun/pajero 2.8TD swb or lwb. 2) Toyota Hilux Surf 2.8td 3) Daewoo Korando 2.9td Thinking of getting one of these to tow the trailer, as the Passat struggles a bit on slipway. I know the Daewoo is a Merc 2.9 tdi engine, same as their Sprinters Van, good reliable engine, although the look is definitely on the 'different' side. . Been told the nose weigh of trailer can be close to 100kg as it's a swb, a bonus as I'm concern. It can handle large caravan without any problems. Both the Japanese td engine should also last for a long time if looked after. What I want to know is, 'How do they tow?' My trailer is about 1300kg. Do they cope well with a heavy nose weigh? As it's the case with my boat, most structure at the front. I seem to remember Richard has a Hilux which is more or less the same, anyone with a Shogun/Pajero?
  25. Welcome, have lots and fun/
