Glad that the trip was safe, love the write up
Memories of how small boys ride bikes. LOL
Mackerel were thick two weeks ago. Wed and Sat none 🤔
It is never great when that happens.
Wendy and I walked the coast cliff path at Durleston on Friday, then Reel Magic cruised a long way down the Jurassic coast on Saturday.
Neither day were there any feeding/diving birds to be seen.
For info, I usually call out at 25W on Channel 6

Nice factual report, thanks Mal.
I was out yesterday. Started with a couple of hours in the harbour, but the weed and boat traffic was bad.
Moved outside, into a sheltered area
A few bits and bobs but it was quiet.
Moved further out, featherd a bit, but dropped the only mackerel hooked.
Sort of weighed up the day. Great to be on my boat, but very slow fishing.
Cannot win them all.

Tight lines Mal.
I am out this afternoon, as I have booked a half day.
Not sure yet if I am going out or staying in the harbour.

Popped over to see Pete
He says that you can glue the sheets on with most things, contact adhesive, Silkaflex , CT1 etc
but weigh it down well while the glue sets, for the later two.
He has some sheets in his shop if you need them.
Ref treating the aluminium, some wipe it with baby oil or this stuff

Hi Trev,
Wow that looks great mate
I think my soundproofing was sticky backed, but if not I would use something like CT1 to fix it. Or simply ask the supplier for their recommendation. I could ask Pete in Quay West chandlers if you want.
On Alfresco the edges and joins were sealed with tape bought from the same supplier as the sound proofing sheets.
I remember that this quite expensive though.
Ref the chequer plate, I left mine bare and it is still in good nick after 18years, it has dulled quite a bit now though.
Gary Austin treated his, when he built Prodigy and it stayed looking like new.

Thanks, she looks great.
I had a Wilson Flyer 18 when we moved to Dorset.
she had a very similar windscreen, after I made it and fitted it, I had transformed the boats driving experience. Especially if there was spray or rain about.
But not as much as when I swapped the engine for a new Yamaha 60 and removed half the bulkhead to make it into a cuddy like yours.
I hope you have as much fun on her as we had on our flyer.

You could try Marc at Haywoods technical, up in Hamworthy, but he too may be very busy.

Great crack was always guaranteed with Nigel onboard. Us old danglers can always come up with a tale or two.
Good to see the codfather back on the end of a rod

Terry.
Hi terry
I spoke to Rob today in the yard and said he may get a call.
he tells me that he is going to Cobbs tomorrow [Thursday]
If you are still thinking of giving him a call, that may be good to know

Hi Terry
You could try Rob McCready of RYM marine services

He copper coated a friends boat at Cobba this summer, so knows how to book work in there.

I do the same as Charlie. When refitting make sure the splines are well greased, aids future removal.
I apply a little medium strength Loctite on the nuts to save replacing them. If the props are removed every year they should come off no problem, if left you may need to get a mallet on them.
Very good advice Steve.
We take ours off every year and grease everything very well.
Dan has some horror stories from when he did his apprenticeship with Purbeck Marine.

As Steve says best to get your own , should be available from a dealer or on line.
you will need details of your sterndrive to get the correct one.
Like Steve, I also have DPH drive
I carry a very short piece of 4 by 2 softwood, to put between the prop blade and cavitation plate, this stops prop turning when undoing or doing up the nuts.
1st Prop [via the prop cone] is a 30mm socket and short extension bar, 2nd one is the Volvo tool and some 3/8 bar to turn it with.

Nice one Charlie, do you fish baits or tow gear for them? Might be worth traveling West for an extended trip as number of fish certainly increases
Mostly Tow gear
Live baits are so hard to get consistently.
We will certainly be trying to hear where they are and may go even further West

Thanks Mick
I will get him to give you a call, his no is 07713 181609, so you can recognise caller.

Good afternoon all
After several long but unsuccessful trips last season, Dave and I both applied once again for 2025 BFT licences.
Hoping to use the knowledge from last year, and all of the kit to have another go at these mighty fish.
Two weeks ago I received a message from the MMO, saying there was an error in my application and I would loose the priority that I gained from holding a licence in 2024.
Thankfully a few frantic emails and phone calls later, the mix up was sorted out.
I received an email this morning, with good news.
Success I have another licence for the 2025 season starting 1st August.
Sadly when I called Dave, his email was not so good, due to considerable No of applications, he had been unsuccessful again.
Later this morning another email from the MMO, correcting the season start date back to the 18th July. as it was said to be when we applied.
What an organisation they are, having worked with them for many years while managing a Marina, I should not really be surprised.
Many Members followed our exploits with interest last year so hopefully we can continue to interest you once again.
Wish us luck.
In case you have forgotten, this may show why we got so excited just seeing them off of Portland last year

Is that propane or butane Mick?
