Be sure to back up your waypoints and marks first As these resets can lose them. They also lose any customised setting on mine, like the information showing over the top of the plotter map. speed bearing heading to mark etc. Not a major problem if you know and have time to reset it all. The first time it happened to me I thought the set was defective. Charlie

A lot of this seems to be either in areas where land etc is cheaper or in the case of my old Club at Southsea the boat park was on a headland next to a public slipway. where the land was also bought cheaply. and the Clubhouse in a building bought when property was much much cheaper. water front land in Poole is far from cheap. Unfortunately Clubs have Membership caps, which in Parkstone YC case means that a level of Full Membership needs to be maintained, they then use various facilities in the Club Yard and Yacht Haven paying Members rates to do so. Opening the facilities to associate members would reduce the Numbers of Full Members, in the long term costing the Club money in lost income. Just my thoughts, but if there is a way of getting something out of the proposed developement for our members it would be great Charlie

Hi Gordon The last few years have gone well SP a date is set subject to weather and as it draws nearer the interest and activity on the forum grows. Just prior to the trip we have gathered after a Club Meeting or at a Pub to confirm plans. departure times and which boats are going together and where they are stopping on route etc are organised. On the day Its usually an early morning meet at the boat then the boats RV either in the harbour or somewhere close, lots of excitement and chat on the VHF radio as we head out to a chosen wreck, its usually mid channel and the start of a wreck hop to the island. Some boats go in early to get organised in Braye harbour, some [like us] try to make the most of it and even have a look for some tope in the late afternoon. Day 2 and 3 its down to the various boats, but many head for the banks for the flat fish. lots of planning goes on in the evenings about the format, but the last day the boats head back, fishing on route But by then the crews are tired and fishing is less of a priority. I hope that gives you the general idea, If you have a look at last years forum threads you would get more of a feel, especially reading some of the reports from when we got back. Its a good trip if the weather is good. Charlie

Hi Tom Happy Birthday mate When I turned 40 I had to leave the Navy but I have enjoyed myself a fair bit since then so you are not dead yet. Oh and I did get a stripagram at my 40th party, arranged by Wendy because I bet her she wouldn't. Have a good one Charlie

I do not like the sound of that last one Tom. or the leaking Bow Thruster tube. Oli the guy who came here with the instrument last week taking photo's was Ken Hawes of Class instrumentation Ltd 07970 617513 or 020 8333 2288 He is from up your way but should be worth talking to to see if he had a local surveyor using his kit Good luck and I hope you find the leak. Charlie

Happy Birthday Mark I hope that you are not on one of your long days/nights Charlie

Oli As someone who has had the engine out due to damage caused by an undetected water leak, I feel that I should not really offer advice But as you are being very sensible and trying to get it in Warranty {unlike me ]I will. I second Chris's idea about teh talk we used int many times in the Navy and if necesarry the food dye idea, but there may be other areas to check. When I first launched I had water ingress under the deck, found to be coming back through the elec bilge pump. fitting a non return valve in the discharge line has fixed it. It is very common for skylights and windows to leak, also condensation lying in pockets untill rough weather moves them. Only last week at work ,we had a surveyor taking pictures of a new leak detection device in use, I am sure I put his card somewhere safe, if you want his details let me know, his evidence should be enough to get a warranty repair. I bet that does not happen often. My Boat and Toms are right outside the office, but at times that makes it hard to be onboard in a working day I am sure dry stacking her will help in many other areas though Charlie

Belated happy returns Brian Charlie

Not sure about the Camo I would have thought bright yellow to make sure big fast boats see you, may have been a better plan. But you will be able to sneak up on the mullet [nearest we get to bonefish] Have fun charlie

Many Happy Returns mate I hope all the family spoil you rotten and you and veronica share a few glasses somewhere nice. Charlie

Hi Tom Sorry to hear that the boat may have to go I know that at timeswe must all sit there thinking these things through and doing the maths, its definately cheaper to charter. I believe that there may be other Members facing the same dificult decisions as you are. Its the other bits and pieces that keep me going. even though I too get to use loads of boats at work, I have had one of my own for so long I would miss my own boat too much to contemplate. Days out fishing, social trips with friends and their boats, Holiday trips are all part of the attraction. That said having an engine problem and the Boat OOA is a royal pain in the ass, that I could happily live without. Whatever way you choose or get pushed to go I wish you luck You know that you will be welcome to come conger cuddling with the boys and I on Alfresco, we may even get John out again for the promised eeling trip. Charlie

Looks like all of us are looking at all the spring jobs my bits are starting to arrive, and the first coat of Volvo green paint went on this afternoon. Tomorrow Sam and I are starting the poishing. I hope that we all get them done in time and then the weather gods play ball so that we get across again. Charlie

It may be interesting to see numbers recorded as well as average size I am sure we would love to return to 1992 average size over 25lb, maybe the members back then did not record fish under 20lb well worth the efforts Paul it all adds to the overall picture

I would have thought the electric outboard and battery is the best route or maybe go up to a boat instead of the Kayak and outriggers I doubt there are too many electric start 2.5hp about , to small to warrant the extra weight or have room under the cowling for the starter.

Its Sad that a good shop is struggling so much. Dixie told me a couple of weeks ago about the downsizing, so I hope that will free up some money to restock the shop. Its hard if there is no cash flow to maintain stock , but without stock all the additional bits sold when people pop in for bait etc can not be bought. I like others would love to continue to support the shop, but it has to have thiings on the shelves Charlie

That could be very usefull especially to let us know when species tend to start arriving/being reported in numbers. nice one Paul
