You are right Brian Top Tip, put the boat in, not the car. If you are new to it, my advice would be to practice on good slipways without side currents/winds for the first few times. and maybe get someone who does it a lot to come down and show you the ropes. Charlie

Now that looks like a spot worth fishing , terrific picture. Have you fished it yet Adam?? Charlie
-
Craig just posted that this afternoon looks like a busy show, shame I am working 3 days of it. Charlie
-
Sounds like you need a boatbuilder /engineer to have a look Please post plane tickets and I will pop over and have a look, then we could test it a few times whilst having a dangleLOL seriously the others have covered most of the options I would have gone for. Will the pump run with everything else turned off? if not then you probably have a full short on the pump or its wiring. Charlie

I must echo that The film bought home a few truths and IMHO needs to be seen by the masses in the hope that the message could get across to the consumers. A restuarant that still serves fish on the endangered list should be boycotted. The fact that it take 10lb of mackeral/pilchards/sardines as feed to make a farmed tuna or salmon grow 1lb just goes to show what we should eat. Thanks for all that arranged the showing and Peter for taking the questions Charlie
-
Just heard that Adam and Rach have had a very special catch Reuben William Franklin weighed in at 5lb 4oz I hope that they all are well and look forward to wetting his head with Dad Charlie

Hi Paul Was thinking of heading to the Solent but it could be busy as boats head home after Cowes week and the big tides could make weed a problem. Speak tonight Charlie
-
Thanks Adam . For doing the results when I know you have a lot on your plate hope all is well Well Done Neal for defending your trophy Charlie

They usually advise not to cut or shorten the wires on Transducers, which can be a pain when running the cables. Charlie

Just wait until the summer and the kingfish chase the kahawai Mark even off the shore the Kiwi's use about 2-3lb ones for kingy bait. apparently once the water gets to 19 degrees the big snapper and kingfish get going. when we were in the bay of islands at Christmas my mate Steve had a 16lb snapper it nearly spooled him about 5 times. Charlie
-
Thats very good Tom Have you one for central South coast of England? Charlie
-
Well we were out early and armed with a couple of new marks set off hoping that the wind would ease. we stopped for bait which was plentiful and we all loaded up 4 macs each but nether wreck produced anything more than a solitary pout to Alun and three poor cod to me. I am afraid that is when we reverted to bait, had several congers lots of medium size tope We had a busy day but scores were poor Alun 4 macs and 1 pout Me 4 macs and thre [do they count] poor cod Will 4 macs Craig 4 Macs Having read that so many others also gave up and reverted to bait fishing can I ask that the format of this comp be looked at before next year. Well done to the winner whoever it is Charlie

On my TLD's they start to jerk/snatch when the drag washer gets damp. Take them apart and dry on a window sill or in the airing cupboard does the trick Charlie

Depends where you are fishing Brian Scope of anchor warp can be 5 times depth of water. Some of the deeper areas inshore are over 30 metres, offshore about 50 so 200 metres would about cover that. if you were not going so far you could reduce a little but the dry weight of 50m of 10mm is not a lot. I have always carried a full coil 220m Hpe that helps Charlie

Starting to look a little more promising. I had better look at the tides etc and round up a crew. If its on put Alfresco down. Charlie

Just to add my 2p worth. It is possible to combine some of these things. Ie keep the boat at home on a trailer and practise launching with a crew when you have one for fishing trips, this gives you the chance to launch in a variety of places subject to weather and fishing species targeted Ie Poole, Lymington , Weymouth. When you are short crewed or with Family, maybe launch at better facilities but combine the fee with some time in their Marina. Cobbs Quay, Portland, Weymouth. We have several Members here that bring boats in on Friday, launch, pay two nights berthing and take the boat home on Sunday. While this is not always available to Non Members, When its quiet and we have space it can be. You get a walk on facility for the missus and kids at a fraction of the cost of annual. I am sure other marinas would offer simular deals Charlie

Great to hear from you Mark, glad to read that all is well with you all down under That outfit looks the mutts nuts . Not many in NZ do the miles we do here unless they chase the very serious fish offshore. Most seem to do half days due to the tight control on what you are allowed to keep. Where are you living?, I have two mates who emigrated and lived in Auckland, both had boats. If you are in that area I may be able to get you some info. Tight lines and very best regards Charlie

Thats good Dave I expect that You were as happy as Mr Hamilton yesterday afternoon mate Charlie
