  2. Thats the one on the TV advert with the child throwing it for his dog to retrieve Looks just the job for the boat I have an Olympus digital which I have been very pleased with since I bought it. Charlie
  3. They say the old ones are the best Mike and that joke is old I managed to resist it yesterday
  4. Nice picture James at last a smile well worth adding to te gallery Charlie
  5. Hi Dogger If you are having a bit of a problem with the old Sea Sickness. there are several things to try Best advice I can offer is try to avoid over tiredness or hangovers also try and keep from getting to cold when you are on the boat The best thing that worked for my son Dan was ginger, regular munching on Ginger nut biscuits seemed to work a treat. and the purchase of hotboots to stop him feeling the cold also seemed to help. Not sure what the ginger tastes like on the way up Charlie
  6. Hi and welcome to the Forum Dogger I hope you enjoy having the chance for more boat fishing and catching soon Charlie
  7. I am sure we are all thinking the same I have taken the boat out to do the anti-fouling but am wondering if i can get the gelshield and anti fouling on in time to launch for the comp considering the weather. Mike what are the long term predictions? Charlie
  8. I have seen articles with boats using keep nets Fine for small fish in calm water and small tides, not sure about the congers though and hard when it comes to a move I have kept congers alive for hours in the bilge locker on GW, by adding buckets of sea water occasionaly, with the lid down they just go quiet in the dark. They soon liven up when its time to get them back out Flounders are OK in a few inches of water in a fish box Wrasse and even bass have been ok in the bait tank Charlie I think its better to try and keep them alive and fail than to just knock them on the head straight away. But I do not let them suffer if I think its not going to work they get released or knocked Charlie
  9. Well done Alun Nice to hear that there are a few about I am sure a 2lb 4 fish would get you to the prize table Charlie
  10. Weighed on dry land seems to be the hard bit Although if a live bait tank is fitted getting it back alive should not be impossible for several species. But getting a 134lb conger back alive may be a tad difficult If I were fortunate enough to be in that position , and decided to try and claim a record then release the fish I think I would put it in to the livebait tank and take it into harbour to be weighed. There is a wet fish shop on the quay at Mudiford and Greenslades is close to the small quay by Sunseekers in Poole. If it was not an easy species to identify I suppose a call to the aquarium or sea life centre is the best option. I would think that they would welcome the publicity and would be willing to help. What would you consider doing? Charlie
  11. The boat may be able to take bad weather, but will the Crew want to? I have never driven one of the big cats but I am sure the skippers still have to consider their passengers safety comfort and enjoyment before deciding to fish in poor weather. And the extra size must restrict space to manouver and focus the brain in windy weather. Charlie
  12. Hi all I see that there are some more 40 knot winds forecast for this week So best keep an eye on anything still afloat Paul Imagine looks OK Charlie
  13. I hope you had the wind behind you Dean with 49.99 knots behind me even I can cast a decent distance Charlie
  14. Dave that was the PHC survey boat when I went over to see Sam at Poole Quay Boat Haven on Sat, The boat was surveying by Stakes Buoy For Info i have checked the records at the Club this morning and at 10am yesterday [sunday] it recorded a steady speed of 46 knots and peaked at 49.99 knots. A tad breezy Charlie

  22. Thanks Paul, an early decision is helpful I am sure that I speak for many, we all wanted to fish this competition but I have not spoken to anyone who wanted to be battered and bruised doing so. Thanks to all the organising committee for your hard work, lets hope for a much better forecast on the 16th. I am going to phone all those that I know who were going to fish and do not use the forum. Can I remind others to do the same Best regards Charlie
