What a great Day Some excellent sport, did you have to go far? Your fish beats the Club record that has stood for 15 years and the Conger sounds like it was also close. It sound like time to join up and try and nudge a few records up a bit Great angling well done. Charlie

Nice one Guys It was a day to sleep off excesses for my young crew, Wendy and I popped down to spruce the boat up a bit and I meant to check on the VHF but forgot. Nice to know that you had the rods bent, even if it was by a fish that are not high on your wish list. There seem to be whiting about but hardly in plage proportions, we had a few on Sunday and about a dozen on Monday. so you may need to sneak further West. 4 ltrs of Fuel I might make a return trip to the chain ferry Charlie

Hi Paul Nice report Paul some excellent specimen fish to go with the other recent reports Bad luck with the boat, I still have plenty of materials here if you need some for the repair, I would advise getting rid of the salt water ASAP, flushing it all out with fresh water [From the inside would work] then look for the leak prior to fully drying before repair. Hopfully it is only leaking from the transdocer mount screws. If it is leaking through the damaged gellcoat you will need more of a repair than a dollop of gell Call me if I can help-advise Charlie

You are both very wellcome and Thanks for doing the sea check on the boat when we got back in. George looked so sad at the Mariner that he had missed the comp on Sunday, especially when everyone was reporting lots of Conger. It seemed a good oportunity to use the good weather to offer him a conger trip that we had discussed during the boats build. It was a shame that the shingle dredger was so close to the intended wreck but I think we had 10 small eels of the substitute, and we had a very nice one for rough ground later. I have been busy since getting home with New Years celibrations and a trip down to clean the boat, but I will try and add a couple of photo's later. Mike if you PM me your email address I will send them over Happy New Year Charlie

Hi Alun Congratulations on a great catch, what a fish I am sure we will be seeing it in print a few times and i hope that you enjoy all the just praise. Sorry I could not hear you well on the VHF yesterday, I did not mean to sound so doubting that I heard the size correctly. and well done Rob for staying calm enough with the net Alun you bring your own luck with constant effort and lots of rod hours, may your lines stay tight ine 2008 Charlie

Rob you can still use the unit as a plotter but without a very close up Map feature If you enter waypoints you can still navigate to them and mark features with a selection of icoms Then when the chart arrives it will just show better detail of where they are Have Fun Charlie

Hi Rich That great it will be good to have you aboard, we just need the winds to ease as it sounds like the roof is about to come off. and we need to confirm timings etc Charlie
-
Hi I hope that the lull in the weather comes in as forecast and that we can get out Sam has checked today with Andy who says that its start fishing as soon you can after registration. It is apparently 1 Rod max 3 hooks Rich if the weather plays ball we will be going, call me or let me know a good time to call you. Tight lines Charlie

Happy birthday Paul It sounds like you had your present a day early, Nice one mate Was it taken far from where we tried on Sat? Charlie
-
Nice one PJ The odds of me fishing boxing day are very slim I hope the shops were not as crowded as the M5 was this afternoon as we returned from the In Laws Charlie
-
Hard to believe they do it every year Thats why the lifeboat was there also hard to understand why the second boat did not go around the first one Charlie

Well done Dave It sounds like a nice Family trip in the good weather Have a great Christmas and New Year Charlie
-
It was great to be out again, and good to have you both onboard You are welcome to the first of many dogs Paul but fancy sneaking the first eel while my line was tangled in my second rod and the eel on the surface behind the boat We must try again after I get used to anchoring the boat. Dan's ray was the highlight but I think we all had a good trip. Lovely to be able to sit in the cabin and chat as we steamed back in the dark at 18 knots + Roll on next time Charlie
-
It will all depend on the weather so it will be a last minute decision for Alfresco after we get over Christmas excesses. Charlie

Well done alun a deserved result We grabbed the chance of a trip on Sat and the tale end of a cold kept me ashore yesterday. we sneaked out today in teh wind but should have used the worms yesterday in the nice weather instead. Merry Christmas Charlie
-
Thats a cracking fish Dean well done Charlie
-
Sorry Rob missed the post we intended to go out today but after seeing the forecast I turned off the alarm however when Dan eventually dragged himself up he fancied a short trip so off to get a few worms we went to the top of the harbour to swing too much in the wind, after one dropped fish at the net we moved to Hutchins buoy only to do the same trick again. after 31/2 hours we decided to go in and clean down the boat in daylight. We did see Andy on Pal o Mine and get a Nice bit of fresh air but no fish Charlie
-
Thanks Duncan I had to be quick chasing those flounders can you email the original photo's please Merry Christmas Charlie

Hi Rob As I said at the Mariners I have also just fitted a Lowrance It is using Navionics Gold chart 28G I used Navionics in favour of the Nautipath because it shows better detail and tide info. Very pleased with its first full test yesterday The emulator is an excellent way of learning how to use the new kit Charlie

At last a bit nicer weather and a chance to get out and try the boat properly With Sam working and Wendy still full of cold, we were able to invite Paul and PJ to join us for a trip across to the needles area that they know better than I do. Due to the works Christmas do on Friday the meeting time was a sedate 0845. it did not take long to organise and we arrived allongside Dawn Raider for a chat at 10.00. JP reported just Dogs but we still decided to anchor up and give it a go a couple of hours doggie bashing then out further to the spoil ground, for ebven more dogs It was turning into a day for converting squid to LSD We all decided to try a spot of eel bashing so off to a wreck I was very pleased to go straight to it on my old numbers, but need to remember the other skills involved and learn how my new boat lies on wind and tide. we anchored twice before eventually turning on the tide to fish near the wreck. The GW would have been effected by the tide muck quicker. While we were "On the turn" Dan had the best fish of the day an undulate ray of 14lb 4oz [First Specimen over the gunwhales] Then as we eventually turned we had 3 small congers Paul D had the first to the boat followed about 1 min later with my first. they wer only small fish and seemed to be very hook shy as we droppped quite a few bites Nice to be able to report a full trip on the boat, she performed very well, thanks to Paul and PJ for joining us. CU on the water again soon Merry Christmas Charlie
