    Dredging

Just a small piece of information, following on from a comment I made at the last club meeting, regarding the silt deposits in the harbour. Last month a team of divers carried out some research in Poole Bay to see how much silt had built up since the dregding, this is an on going project but the lastest information was reported at a meeting that I went to, that the silt build up on Poole Patch was an average 20mm deep, the PHC report that their was only going to be a maximum 4mm build up!! There is also some growing concerns about the build up of silt along Rockley and Hamworthy beach. Hopefully there will be more information and hard facts at the next meeting, so I'll report back again at a later date. Lets hope that this bream site hasn't been runined.

Also whilst taking the dog for a walk along the beach i watched one of these dregers unload onto the beach but all i saw coming out of the pipe was loads of water and no sand also saw quite alot of nice size shell fish and it bloody smelt down there!

  17. Duncan, Its seems ever since the high winds like the fishing has turned off. Everybody I have spoken to have found it slow, even yesterday fishing was very slow. Hopefully things will pick up for the weekend, on the Whiting and Cod front. Perseverance is the name of the game.

  21. Out today to make the most of the weather, had a struggle to get crew, so I was only out with the misses and her brother, oh and the dog in tow!! She doesn't make bad crew-as I get hot food when she's on board!!Anyway not a fantic day I landed my first Congor, which was also the first for Bliss. Not too sure on how heavy it was as trying to weigh it proved difficult, please feel free to estimate she was about 4-5 foot long!! Struggled for whiting in fact the only one that came aboard was for Steph it seemed like the fishing down to the West was better than in the East!! Still looking forward to Sunday
  22. If you want to go cod fishing off the iow call me asap 01202 567240 leaving at 8 back at 6ish
  23. Well and great day and perfect sea's and good company in the form of Tony way the cod master his pb is 43lbs 6oz caught in poole back in 2003 so it just shows the beast is out there!!! Anyway this is how my day went: When I got to the boat it was covered in frost, which soon melted away when I turned the heating on,tired for a few herrring first thing but with no joy, so moved out to my first mark and had a steady run of whiting and pouting, my biggest whiting and also a pd 2lb 8oz, and pb pout of 2lb 10oz it was a whopper!! After this we moved to the table top a couple of nice big whiting again, but the action was slower. So we moved again to a mark off the needles about 2.30, and caught my first ever winter cod a baby at 8lb 6oz but still made my day and we caught more whiting!! All in all a very good day, sun tanned face, tally for the day, was 11 whiting all over 2lb, numerous pouting, dogfish and course my cod! Hopefully be back out sunday!!
