Tom, A good day all in all, nice to get out and enjoy another good day of weather and a few fish. Makes a change for someone else to be scrubbing the boat down and gutting fish on the way in, you can come more often! See you 2mo night.

If they dont hurry up and sort the engine out soon there will be no boat left to fit it in, I have cleaned it and polished it so much the fibreglass must be wearing thin!!! Nice and shiny though, best get your sunglasses out when she finaly makes it back out on the water

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys, you will be surprised to know that I am actualy pretty sober right now!!! Must be my old age catching up with me, mind you I have still got a LONG way to go to catch up with the old man, wonder what its like being that old . Thanks again.

If not you will just have to strap 8 cans to your back on the Saturday!!!

Me! but guess you already know that. For anyone thinking of giving it a bash it was a real good few days last year until her ladyship (AWOL) decided to throw one of her fits, typical women that boat!

Hi James, Live bait at sandbanks works, had one 6lb 2 few couple months back. Boat is without doubt best though, in saying that been out all day on the boat today in the pouring rain and wind for a total catch of one flounder! I managed two off the beach last week within a few minutes, guess thats the way it goes.

Still if last weekends test is anything to go by we will be getting to the marks rather quickly. Must by a crash helmet

In the year 2008 the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in England, and said: 'Once again, the earth has become wicked and overpopulated, and I see the end of all flesh before me. Build another Ark and save two of every living thing along with a few good humans.' He gave Noah the CAD drawings, saying: 'You have 6 months to build the Ark before I will start the unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights.' Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard, but no Ark. 'Noah!' He roared, 'I'm about to start the rain! Where is the Ark?' 'Forgive me, Lord,' begged Noah, 'but things have changed. I needed Building Regulations Approval and I've been arguing with the Fire Brigade about the need for a sprinkler system. My neighbours claim that I should have obtained planning permission for building the Ark in my garden because it is development of the site, even though in my view it is a temporary structure. We had to then go to appeal to the Secretary of State for a decision. Then the Department of Transport demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions to clear the passage for the Ark's move to the sea. I told them that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it. Getting the wood was another problem. All the decent trees have Tree Preservation Orders on them and we live in a Site of Special Scientific Interest set up in order to protect the spotted owl. I tried to convince the environmentalists that I needed the wood to save the owls - but no go! When I started gathering the animals, the RSPCA sued me. They insisted that I was confining wild animals against their will. They argued the accommodation was too restrictive, and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in a confined space. Then the County Council, the Environment Agency and the Rivers Authority ruled that I couldn't build the Ark until they'd conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood. I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Equal Opportunities Commission on how many disabled carpenters I'm supposed to hire for my building team. The trades unions say I can't use my sons. They insist I have to hire only accredited workers with Ark-building experience. To make matters worse, Customs and Excise seized all my assets, claiming I'm trying to leave the country illegally with endangered species. So, forgive me, Lord, but it would take at least 10 years for me to finish this Ark.' Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow stretched across the sky. Noah looked up in wonder and asked, 'You mean you're not going to destroy the world?' 'No,' said the Lord. 'Gordon Brown and the British government have beaten me to it.'

Some of you may be aware that this coming Friday the annual species competition is held out of Poole on local charter boats. Our club has a team booked in but due to unforseen circumstances we need two more members to fill the team. I am told it is a good event and it would be good to fill the spaces and have a good show from the club. Appreciate it is a friday, work commitments etc but if anybody is available and would like to fish please either send me a PM or post here.

The old man is away so he wont be out but I may take Awol out, need to check with the other half though and would prob need crew. Will post again if I can get out and if crew needed

Hi Paul, If you are looking to go out of Poole for plaice then I would suggest one of the slower boats that fish the inshore marks reguarly as they know where the Plaice are, Strongbow would be a good choice. Re Bass fishing if you are going from Poole the better marks are a way out so one of the bigger faster boats would be your best option, try Steve Porter on True Blue or Andy Cummins on Silver Spray. A previous club member Crazy Fred has a rather nice boat and a habit of wangling a few Bass but I know his spaces are very limited. You can find his boat (Crimson Tide) on deepsea.co.uk as you can with the other boats mentioned. Good Luck

Happy Birthday Guys!

Word of advice, If Duncan goes and takes crew, do not stay at The Armory, it is a great place to stay but a long way to walk at 5.30/6.00 in the morning

If you want a quality bit of kit for the speedmaster then try the shimano tekota 600. I have got this set up and it is the dogs wotsits! Silky smooth retrieve and the drag is superb. Can't complain about the Penn reels, I have a couple that dont get used that much anymore but have had them for 10 years + and although they need a service now are still in good working order. I have a 535 which has never put a foot wrong and a mag beach reel which is great. I have to say though that in my experience you cannot beat shimano reels for reliability and as previously stated workman like performance. I bought a TLD star in the US over 15 years ago, it has never been serviced, never gets washed after trips and generally gets a good beating up but it is still going strong. I have to agree with tom on Abu reels. I use the rockets for beach fishing and they are fine but had a 7000 for boat fishing which broke after 9 months and a smaller lever drag that has never worked, after going back to Abu three times it still does not work, It is now in the bin! I think that the reel mike has used for 7 years was made before they were built elsewhere. I am sure if you look after the new reels they are fine but I am not one for washing and servicing reels. Hope that helps.

If I had a choice I would fish both Saturday and Sunday but that is just wishful thinking. Unfortuanately as well as working stupid hours during the week I have to work every other saturday as well so Saturdays would be no good for me.
