  1. I am planning to take a trip or two this weekend and may have some space. If anybody fancies a trip out on AWOL either saturday or sunday let me know.
  2. Just read this so slightly delayed reaction. But
  3. I was out on Sunday as well. Weather in the morning was not so great which made me think twice about plan A and we ended up fishing a few marks in and around the slate beds. Fishing was not great with pout and doggies making up the catch. The only fish of note was a bass of 4lb which fell to a pout dead bait. Weather ended up lovely in the afternoon and was good enough to be able to cook up a rather late breakfast without it going everywhere. This was without doubt the highlight of an otherwise dissapointing day.
  4. Fished the beach at Southbourne tonight after hearing good things. Not a lot about though just a load of pout and a couple small smoothound. Saw a chap out in a yak. Was that you Speciman?
  5. Cheers Paul, I was well chuffed when I landed it, felt sure it was a double but still a PB for me so no complaints. Looking forward to giving that mark another go, a very good days sport.
  6. When fishing static you cant beat the real thing, As tom says though they do work well when drifting and retrieving from wrecks and features. There were not meny fish offshore this weekend but the ones that were I caught on Gulp jellies.
  7. Hi Daz, Pretty sure we saw you out and if it was you, yes you were round St Albans Head. We didn't do that well round there on Sunday but if you know were to look there are some good Conger marks round that way. If the tide allows there are a couple of big holes just by St Albans which are clearly marked on any chart and will fish well, but as as I say you can only fish them when the tide has died as it does steam through there.
  8. Nice one. What a great way to spend an evening.
  9. Nightmare! Perfect weather as well. As you say though better safe than sorry.
  10. You will find water will slop around a lot more n a square tank. The built in baitwells in maverick were rectangular and water went everywhere and gave the fish a right battering to boot.
  11. 'and doesn't Phaeton look small alongside AWOL?........... ' Thats only cos there's some fat git sat on the back making the bow stick up! I really must keep the running up.

  13. Awol is being launched this afternoon and I will be taking it out for a trip if I can get crew. Let me know if you fancy a trip out. Dean
  14. A good day and thoroughly enjoyable. I do like a bit of Bass fishing, watching that fish attack the mackeral right next to the boat was superb. Cant wait to give it another go, perhaps on a smaller tide next time, drifting at 3.5-4 knots on the banks was a tadd to fast.
  15. Best Fish on Awol; Martin Burt 6lb 3oz Dean Burt 6lb 7oz
  16. Well done mate, all that hard work is paying off.
  17. Cheers for a good days fishing Paul. Think I need to do my suit as well, I am rather wet!
  18. Classics! Must admit though Im get tired of inflatable lobsters having to rescue inflatable teeth. It just happens all the time
  19. I must admit the thought did cross my mind. It was rather boring but as dad said we did manage to confirm the position of three wrecks for which we had numbers and surprisingly all were spot on and located first time. One of them was huge and all three are en-route to the islands so they will be getting a taste of my plastic! hopefully in the not to distant future. Its always nice to know your numbers are accurate and your not going to be spending ages to find the thing before you wet a line.
  20. Felt more like 180 miles on the way back.
  21. Yes the captains pants might of been in need of a good clean after that!!
  22. Hi Duncan, We have only have the handheld on board at the moment as we are still waiting for the electrics ordered to arrive. That was running low on battery so had it turned off for most of the day. Certainly a good spot though. I've never had so many Bream in such a short time.
  23. After reports of some good fishing on the Shambles even though we didnt do any good there on Friday me and the old man decided to give it another bash yesterday. Wish we hadn't bothered! Total catch one small plaice to dad, launce and maccy. By mid afternnon we decided to knock it on the head and tried a mark we had steamed over in the morning which looked interesting. It was absaloutly covered in Bream. We lost count how many we caught after 1/2 hour, but we must have managed 30 or so fish, if not more, in a couple of hours. All of the fish were in the 1-2lb mark and were coming up 2 at a time. In a bid to find a bigger fish or two we tried large squid, mackeral and launce baits but everything that went down was ripped apart within minutes. A good bit of sport to end the day with and a mark I think we will spend a bit more time on in the future. Spring is definately here!!
  24. Congratulations Mike, I am sure the new boat will bring many happy hours, look forward to seeing you out there along with the rest of the new PBSBAC fleet that seems to have built up these last few months, just neeed Charlie to finish his now! I'm sure it wont be long.
  25. My view is that you get what you pay for. A
