Ok guys opinions and advice please......... I am looking at a very clean Warrior @

I am now reminded of 'Airplane' the movie......... Captain Over, Roger Roger the co pilot etc Which moves you on to calling ones boat 'Past' as in 'Past' over? or even paired boats as in 'Hunky' and 'Dory' However on a slightly more serious note, I HATE it when people call a boat a silly rude name. Boats are such graceful and lovely things and to spoil such beauty by calling it summat obscene no matter how cleaverly is at the 'minger' end of chav. Mad Mike

HAHAA! I have been to look at the Warrior 'True Blue' and I knew it rang a bell. Paul (D) you showed it to me on the hard at Christchurch last year. You remarked that the guy who ever it was was out fishing a lot. The boat is not too bad, the trailer is first class, but the aging Evinrude 60 looks distinctly tired so I personaly feel the asking of

Way to go Coddy, thank you. Your site will be my 'study' for Friday. I would do it now but I can feel the morphine cicking in and I will soon be in lala land. Oh, before any one thinks I am on to class A stuff it's all medicinal and they are weaning me off it. The withdrawal symptoms are 'orrible!! Hot and cold sweats and tears like a lady of a cetain age with PMT on HRT! Mad Mike

Benny, more about the boat. The With (pronounced VIT) started out as a Scandinavian built boat imported and sold in the UK by Bonwitco (They have a good web site and excelent records*). Size for size they are probably the best little sea boats you could find. They are immensely strong and unsinkable too but as omeone said they are heavier for their siaze than a single skinned boat. One of thier famous attributes is that they go like goose s*** of sandle with very little horse power and a 20 will make it FLY. The are far safer for coastal and estuary fishing than any other boat and in calm weather you will have no problem fishing out in the bay. They have an easy motion through a bit of a chop particularly if you 'quarter the sea' as Paul sugested. Even if this means sort of tacking your way to calmer areas. Yours should have rowlocks. A brilliant and productive method in Poole (South Deep) is rowing gently WITH the tide trailing a baited spoon just off the bottom. The fish hook themselves so make sure the rod is secure whilst you row. Fish down a streach and if productive start up the engine and beetle back and try again. Mad Mike * If the makers plate is still there they should be able to tell you when it was made from the number.

Quote........ Is this where I have been over enthusiastic with the sanding and have got down to the fibreglass and started to polish it?? How do I get rid of these patches Plastic padding do a white gell coat in a tube. Although very nearly paste like it is thixotropic (move it around and it liquidises). Make up a small batch and using a pallet knife mix gently until it goes like cream, then using a very soft artists 3/8th" brush paint on a layer * . Wash the brush out in acetone and wait until the first layer sets. The stuff wont keep so mix another small batch and repeat. You are aiming to end up with a dried area of new gell coat a little proud of the origional gel coat. Leave for 2 days or so to realy harden off. Then with 600 grade wet and dry used wet with a little soap, start to flatten the new gell into the origional finish. STOP FREQUENTLY AND CHECK. When nearly there change to 1200 wet & dry used wet and finaly T cut to get the shine. * Wash the area with acetone and dry carefully with absorbant paper before painting. Mad Mike

First off hello to everyone after my long absence. I have now had the spinal operation and after a long recuperation I am starting to feel better and thinking that I may be fit enough to get back to fishing this year. Any way a new boat is on the cards and I am looking to buy soon. I am going to look at a Warrior at a brokerage in Lymington. The name of the boat is True Blue and the name rings a bell. Was/is it owned by a PBSBFC member? Any advice on Warriors, Alaskas, or similar would be welcome. Mad Mike

Ah my boy, that is a dark arcane secret known only to the few initiated ones. You too could gain the secret after initiation. This unfortunatly for you involves the cutting off of the end of your gherkin with a blunt fishing knife at midnight on the shortest day of the year (plenty of time yet then). If yo fancy the idea get your mum to buy the gherkins at Tesco 'cos they are cheaper there.

OH no!! Is there another problem or was it just the engineer leting you down? Usual thing with Marine engineers is to add 25% to their estimated cost for the job and 50% on to their number of days to do it. Mad Mike
