  5. Kam kindly offers.........Mike, you're on, just get better and I'm ready. Just think mate how my weight will help the boats displacement Mad Mike PS. ( I arrived at the wrong slip, not a good start.) You turned right and went into Davis Boat Yard. You should have gone straight on up to the gate bar and pressed the button for entry.
  6. Being a sissy and not liking the cold the ONLY cod I have ever caught (30 years ago) was in the middle of a hot summer fishing just off Peverill (Swanage). Carol has promised me some Damart long johns (She knows how to impress a guy) so perhaps this year I will catch my first 'winter' cod. Mad Mike
  7. VERY nice Kam, and I am so glad Adam was able to help you. When I get back from my holiday perhaps you would be kind enough to give me another invitation 'cos I would love a trip out on her. Mad Mike
  8. Justa thought are you launching from Kimmeridge? Mad Mike
  9. Oooops! We have all done similar things, and any one who says he hasn't is a liar liar pants on fire! If I were you I would go back to where you bought it and get your money back. Quality and fitness of purpose etc. And if you want to be REALLY cheeky say the boat was nicked and you are suing them for the value of it Mad Mike
  10. Paul J confesses.........Having said that, staying upright was difficult enough let alone staying near the radio. Ah well p*ssed as a newt again eh Paul? Mad Mike
  11. Unfortunately no Paul, it's my bi annual consult with my diabetic consultant Dr Kerr at Bmth Hosp'. And by the time I've peed in this jar ("what from over here nurse?") and had copious quantities of blood sucked out of my arm by an ageing phlebotomyst with St Vitus dance and a rusty horse needle , not to mention prancing round in a daft back to front nighty with me bum exposed .......I wont feel like fishing But thanks for the thought. Mad Mike
  12. 'Callous youths' kill baby swan The youths "deliberately" drove their boat at the family of swans Three "callous youths" seen terrorising a family of swans, killing one of the cygnets, are being hunted by police. The gang was spotted on the River Stour deliberately driving their boat at the swans, killing one of the cygnets. The two girls and one boy, aged 14 to 16, were in a 10ft white inflatable boat with a steel A-frame on the river near Iford Lane, Bournemouth, Dorset. A police spokesman called the incident, which happened at 1930 BST on Sunday, a "particularly heartless and cruel act". This was a despicable and callous act and I'd like to find those responsible Pc Dave Williams An eyewitness reported seeing the group driving their vessel at the birds. After killing one of the baby swans, the youths turned back and aimed the boat at the remaining swans. Pc Dave Williams, of Dorset Police's marine section, said: "This was a despicable and callous act and I'd like to find those responsible. "I am hoping that the public will be equally revolted and come forward with any information that they may have." The boat was last seen heading eastwards along the River Stour towards Hengistbury Head and Christchurch Harbour. The police helicopter was called out to search the area but found no trace of the teenagers or their vessel. It is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act to kill or injure a swan. Mad Mike
  13. Mad Mike 2 boxes Yes please, but how much? Mad Mike
  14. I know the problem only too well Charlie. It is further complicated by probability that when one is allowed to cash in the brownie points it's bloody thistlingdown! Mad mike
  15. Looks like Wednesday is going to be one of those lovely still warm autumn days. Mad Mike
  16. Well beggar me Charlie I know that spot! that whole area is very productive but why I don't know 'cos there is nothing significant on the bottom. Mad Mike
  17. I have tried one of these slings and no matter how hard I whiz it round my head I still can't throw the fish very far using it. Mad Mike
  18. What excellent advice Coddy. Particularly the point that it may not be the skipper who is making the call. Some skippers feel they need to keep every thing within their control, but fail to think that it may be them who has fallen overboard leaving the 'crew' not knownig what to do. When ever I have had guests on my boats I have always shown them where and what thing are and asked them to take the con. I find that is far more comforting than keeping them in the dark. Mad Mike
  19. I wouldn't bet that I am better! I started out with book learning and I am still very keen on 'looking it up' from a book. Actualy it might be an idea to have a 'teach in' at a meeting on how to make good a cracked/split laminate. Mad Mike
  20. I am PM'ing you now with home phone number. Mike
  21. YES! The nearer one gets to the shore the more the swells will group together and turn to cresting waves. One option might have been heading into Chapmans Pool and hunkering down at anchor to wait untill the swells died down (probably the next morning). But the GOLDEN RULE is NEVER EVER head for the shore if there are steep rollers going into it, ALWAYS opt for sea room and depth of water under the keel. Mad Mike
  22. Adam Am I right in thinking you want a 'proper job' rather than summat that will get you back in the water for the time being? If you will let me come round and have a look at what needs doing I am sure we can work out a job plan and get it sorted sharpish. Mad Mike
  23. I would love to but at about 9:15am a lovely lady will be sticking acupuncture needles into my bum. I must say I will feel a bit of a prick not coming. Mad Mike
  24. OK guys so I opted myself out of coming fishing and what happens a lovely warm day and gentle breezes. It certainly looked a 'fishy day', but was it? Who caught what where and how, with whom and when?? Mad Mike
