Looks like my forcast for gales at the end of the month will be modified by the rate that Karl is whizzing up the Atlantic. It looks like SE Iceland and the Faroes will get a bit of a blow......... Mad Mike

Mr Jennings makes a nefarious request by asking........... ( Who would we contact to arrange a talk on Boat crime?) OK Paul , which boat do you want nicked? Jus point it out an' me an' der boys will nick it and change the numbers. It occures to me I may have missed the point again Paul, did you want to pinch one or stop yours being pinched? Mad Mike

Kam daringly challenges......... ( Who needs gloves or insulated pliers? They are for wimp ...... just hold it barehand) Actualy the kick from a larger engine with capacitor discharge sparking would REALLY spoil your day and all subsequent ones too If you are tempted to try and you do die could I have your boat please? If so just a small note of confirmation would be appreciated before you get hold of the plug Mad Mike
-
Paul I should have mentioned to check that the plugs (Therfore the electrics and all that) are working. Take out both plugs and leave one connected to its HT lead. With a pair of INSULATED pliers hold the plugs threaded bit on a bit of unpainted engine (bolt head usualy) Get Hels to pull the starter chord (this will be easy as both plugs are out) WHat you are looking for is a nice fat spark as the engine turns over. Do one then the other. This wont nessesarily make the engine go, but it will eliminate one of the potential problems. If both spark well then it must be fuel. Mad Mike

I wonder if we could get a Poole councilor on 'our side' in the terms of sorting out a home and a slip. Someone mentioned the 'For the good of the community' gambit and IMO this could be more productive than any of the private clubs/business' who tend to be a bit 'up there own arse' anyway. As Charley says If you can fill every space with out of town visitors who hardly ever come down and disturb your peace as opposed to a lot of smelly fishermen who are in and out at the most ungodly of hours, which would you choose? There are plenty of examples along the south coast of council owned forshore leased to fishermen who have organised themselves into a club, why not Poole as well? Mad Mike

It's my BACK Not me shoulders, that was earlier this year. Back prob's are down to my age and some plonker slaming into the back of the car, doing

Another thing Sam is to do with this....... (Also u will start getting some good silver eels there which go really well. ) Sections of silver eel about 6" long are an A 1 bait for Tope. The other good thing about silvers as bait is that they freeze well. It's worth taking some home and freezing them. Mad Mike

I wonder if on a 'chairman to chairman' basis if it would be worth while asking them? The president is there in Poole. Years ago there was a council compound, a slip and a hut at Hamworthy Park. It was near the old power station outlet. There was an association of some sort that ran it and paid a peppercorn rent to the council. Mad Mike PS Martin you were going to PM or Phone me re the press thing.

Alun, more in hope than expectation, says ......... ( I will be relying someone with a bit of local knowledge to put us somewhere where we have a chance of catching some qualifying fish!) Well that rules out about 75% of us lot then. Mad Mike

Think big men!! What about making something like this a long term aim. After all Poole Council can only say no Mad Mike

Whenever you want Paul, I'm not off untill the 11th Oct. Mad Mike

Remembering the oil rich mix you had in it Paul I would sugest you whip he plug/s out and clean them for a start. Usual method for a 2T is (cold engine) full choke and a little throttle. You need to gently pull the starter untill you feel it come on to a compression. Then relax the cord back in so you get maximum revolutions from the pull. A firm brisk pull is then needed. Mad Mike

The slip at Cobbs can be used in any wind at all. Finding it is easy in as much if you can get to Ferndown (main road all the way) I will meet you there in my car and you can follow me to Cobbs. It's the leapin' about and all that that I don't want to do. Mad Mike
-
Do you know if I were you for a 'first' trip I would be very tempted to drive the extra distance to Poole where there is a Marina called Cobbs Quay. It has a fantastic concrete slip that you can use at any state of the tide and the slip is totaly sheltered from the wind. The channel that the slip goes into opens into a virtualy land locked area of water that once again even in a force 6 won't get too choppy. And you have a chandler on site and all the usual facilities. So what's the catch? #1 it's more distance #2 it ain't cheap

You gotta deal Paul Can you let me know when I can come down and do the do on the boat? I can generaly manage mid week days. Mad Mike
