    Adieu

Goodbye to you all. I depart at the crack of sparrowfart tomorrow morning for some fun in the snow. See if I can manage not to break anything this time! See you all out on the Shambles on the 2nd April. Please order some plaice for me. Terry B.
  3. As an addendum to this topic, I offer the alternative to the 'coat hanger' method of keeping the bouy away from the bow of the boat. It was one of the few things I got from the Go Fishing Show, courtesy of the AnkaYanka chaps. When you have nearly let all of your warp out, attach another much smaller bouy behind (boat side) the main bouy and attach the same way as the 'coat hanger', i.e., take a bight through the ring and over the bouy which will fix it in position but make it easily removable. Now let out a bit more warp, taking this bouy about 20mtrs, or whatever you prefer, away from the boat. Recovery sees the small bouy coming aboard first followed eventually by the larger bouy and anchor. The small one can either be removed upon retrieval or left in place if you are going to be in a similar depth of water. I hope I have made this clear enough to understand. Obviously, the AnkaYanka chaps were selling this extra at a show price of

  9. I have upgraded to the larger (and more expensive) charts so would now like to sell the one I have been using. It has been sealed within the unit and comes in it's original box. It is 9 months old. I have used it out of Poole and Christchurch and never run out of chart. Navions Gold Code: 5G169S. Lyme regis to Christchurch. New price on ebay

    Prop Damage

Follow this link for a recommendation for Prop Revolutions in Poole. Several of us have used them and the service is great. Also club discount. Propeller Revolutions
  15. On my Microplus, I used the ones from the chandlers that advertise that sort of stuff in BFM. They're aluminium and seem pretty good, didn't cost a bomb and are easy to fit. Anything else needed? Terry B.
  16. Anybody who's missed the Go Fishing Show, you ain't missed much! I managed to make contact with Martin and Simon (britboard), a new member who I welcomed to the fold. There was plenty there for the maggot drowners and boilie bungers and a bit for the game angler, which was interesting, but the square root of cockall for the sea angler. A few boats, of which I though the new Warrior 175 was the pick of the small boats, and a few specialist suppliers with their own products. Also Warrior did me a good deal on a stern rail with bait table and rod holders for my boat. Which was nice! Virtually no large tackle suppliers so we could top up with the consumables; I couldn't even get any lead moulds. I think 3 of us visited Salt-X and got a good deal. I had a good chat with them and they want to focus more on our club as a beacon for their product on the South Coast. Also, interestingly, I discovered that they can supply in much larger amounts. How about a club supply and people top up their containers at the monthly meetings? AnkerYanka were there and asked me to point out that they are doing chandlery as from May, check the website. Also an alternative to the 'coat hanger' method for keeping the bouy clear of the boat. Will elucidate further later. All in all, a longish journey, fortunately a cheap ticket with the BOGOF offer and an expensive
  17. I find it hard to believe that good Europeans like the French are flouting the EU laws that they so frequently quote at Britain! Whatever next? Selling soft cheeses in open air markets?
  18. Don't put Terry & Pete on your register for Blandford, we'll be coming downhill from Oxfordshire. Meet you on the seafront about 8.00am. Terry B.
  19. Being part of a chain, Martin, if it's anything like the one in Oxford, it's absolutely superb. No criticism except on a very busy night, service can be a little slow but, hey, who's in a hurry on a night out. And buy their kippers to take away for your breakfast next day! Terry B.

Of course, that last comment was from the only member who actually boasts about what he catches. The rest of us are far too modest. Hope to see you as a member soon. Terry B.

    Rope

The chap several of us used on ebay was called ropeseller but I can't find him on there now. There is another one who looks as good called Boatropes at Marlow. This is similar in that you bid for 50 mtrs and can then ask for whatever length you require at the same pro-rata price. Try this link rope on ebay
