Thanks. Taking my three Grandkids out, and seeing their faces when we caught a fish. ( Priceless ) Jim
Adam F
Good question - and an easy one for me... Building JV - 7 months 3 days.... and then standing on the breakwater in Alderney a few months after we launched her - watching he sat on the mooring... amazing! great white
In the last decade Watching my boys grow into fisherman Then having them help me build our dream boat in the garden. Taking so many friends out on the boat and watching them catch PB or Club record fish of many species. Especially the May Alderney trips with the Boys, Adam, Gordon, Will, and Terry. What a buzz it is to take a boat we fitted out over the channel and get some great fishing with some great friends and family. Although we called the boat Alfresco, none of us expected to experiance the dining onboard we have enjoyed thanks to Wendy, Gordon and of course Will. In 2010 Alderney again A great trip with so many boats to Portland The gathering of club Members boats in Studland and all that fun in the Sun. but top of the list, watching Dan play a big big shark on 30lb tackle for 2 hours, 30 miles offshore. None of the guys on that trip will forget that afternoon. {Especially as Dan tells us about it a lot } Nice thread Nige Charlie Oh and the low point is easy too, having to be towed home last trip and still not knowing what is wrong. Paul D
Topeing in Alderney on Just Purfick. Meeting up with some great new friends via the fishing club. Learning how to sea fish. ( 10 years ago I only fished in the harbour ). Taking my friends out and helping to get them their first ever fish. Taking my nephew out and seeing his face when he hooked into a sizeable Conger. Watching my friend land his first ever sole which happened to be over 4lb.

Rob
My first trip to Alderney on JV was ace - good fishing, good food, good boat and OK company!!! Weymouth this year was a good crack too! Again, taking people fishing and seeing them catch (not too much mind!), especially Charlie A's son Sam catching mackerel on Star Turn. Watching Air shows from Star Turn. Having Olivia (@18moths old) steer JoJo up the Dart river in a zig-zag formation, as she was unable to see above the gunnel! Keeping JoJo on the river in Dartmouth for a week and going out at least twice a day, at 4am so meet the sunrise. Landing Alun J's 18.5lb bass on a cod comp, not exactly target species but we didnt complain! Have to mention: Winning the 2007 Open and clearing the prize table (rules have been changed since then), not only did only motor only 30meters to fish but I won the Club Xmas raffle (DeWalt cordless drill) the night before! petesnr
Highlights for me include the day off Ballard when the dolphins played around and under the boat all day, catching numbers of plaice in the harbour, and seeing the look on Biggcols face when a conger turned into a 22lb cod!--the big man turned into a gibbering wreck! Happy Christmas to all. PeteSnr
Maverick Martin
My highlights for the past decade are to numerous to detail here as every trip on my boat with my eldest boy is a highlight for me but a few others are: My first trip to Alderney on a club charter and staying in a very posh bunk house with loads of freinds from the club and catching some superb fish on that trip. Making the trip to Guernsey and Alderney in my own boat with very few mishaps Learning to use the boat for more than just fishing. I have been lucky enough to experience some brilliant social activities and cruising in the company of other club members. Seeing this club grow into the best small boat angling club on the south coast or maybe even the uk Last but not least being able to consider myself a friend of you lot Thank you Martin
Paul J
A tough one this, mainly due to a failing memory. Top 4 are perhaps: A 10lb 8oz bass on a surface lure a couple of summers ago. A red letter day on the flatties aboard Tiger lilly - 6 Turbot ( best 14.5lb) and 2 brill ( best 11lb 2oz) Being awarded the conservation award from B.A.S.S A trip to Cape Cod catching Stripers and bluefish off the shore PJ
Coddy
The best thing for me was moving down to Dorset 6 years ago and joining PBSBAC and meeting and making many new friends. 2010 has not been the best year regarding fishing for me but to be invited out on many club members boats has been a real highlight and the friendships that have been shown has been very touching. To add to the thread, my 2011 resolution is to become more positive and catch some good fish. Have a great time Dave Edited December 24, 2010 by Coddy

biggcol
Our biggest highlight has to be taking delivery of BOBLIN2. Also having a great season this year which included a fantastic trip to Portland and putting Boblin through her paces on the return trip with all the excitement of St Albans race. Bobi catching a new club record, Colin catching a new club record, lots of PB's. A great family day at Studland. Sharing a liferaft with Jim and of course making new friends in PBSBAC, and not forgetting my old mate Pete Snr netting my PB cod on the second attempt. rich
One of the highlights of 2010 was going to Cobbs Quay this morning, Christmas day, slipping the mooring ropes and spending a couple of hours going around Poole Harbour on an absolutely flat calm sea. In all that time we didn't see another boat on the move. Almost spooky, but as they say in the advert ...priceless! Other highlights are of course sharing fishing trips with PBSBAC members. Seasons greetings Rich
duncan
has to be returning home in idyllic conditions after any successful trip - this was from a weekend Alderney run a few years ago sadly all to infrequent
Gas
Where to start, the biggest highlight has to be the purchase of Abode and that first day on the slip at Cobbs and the slow learning curve over the next three years on how to use the boat and fish. Then joining the club and meeting some fantastic people and joining in events on the water( Thanks Tony for the family days Charlie for Portland & Alderney) with your pride and joy it just don
charlieannear
Well for me, PBSBAC is THE BOMB. Before 2005 I had never been fishing, (apart from in a trout farm when I was about 12) and I had never been in a small boat. So in the last decade I've been on a constant learning curve. I've been on courses, I've absorbed advice, I've been seasick, I've caught my first fish, I DISCOVERED THE PARKSTONE TRADES AND LABOUR CLUB I've been out of sight of land and I've caught PB's in every species that I've caught, but, to top the lot I've met all you guys and gals and the icing on the cake is I've made my best mate since I moved to Dorset in '98. My Sam was born in 2004 and my Dad & I bought Star Turn in 2005 and after an extensive refit we first launched her in 2006. To have been able to leave Poole harbour, go out and catch fish, my Dad to catch fish, and for Sam to catch fish has been beyond description. And even Rob caught fish sometimes! But, to narrow it down a little bit - Highlights: Out with Rob when I got the Opti fitted, Sam catching mackeral & Wrasse, the Eurofighter over Star Turn at the first airshow, this year's C&R bass.. Thanks guys
Paul D
Just seeing Craig's post has reminded me of one highlight which we still talk about at work. The trip to the ripps cod fishing on Abode II has to be one of the most memorable trips. It was Craig's first long distance trip and myself and work colleague Steve were Craig's "experienced" crew , much to Charlie C's amusement We had an absolute field day with the best ever cod fishing trip I have ever had adn we only fished for 3 hours. Absolutely the most memorable trip to date, and a right laugh.
Maverick Martin
Niggle if it's ok with you I will move this thread to the lounge? Reason being it's such a great advert for the benefits of the club it would be a shame to hide it from our guests Martin
