Bob F Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 The Albright Knot. Thanks to Shytalk for putting me onto this one. This is a great knot for tying your mainline braid to a thick mono shock leader. The tag end of the mono leader (yellow) can be cut off really short, making it a really small, neat knot that doesn't catch or collect weed. For added security, I add a drop of super glue. BF Quote
JIMBOB Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Im well impressed with your moveing diagrams bob It make it 10 times eaiser to understand I could never quite get to grips with Those knot diagrams you get in Books James Quote

Graham Nash Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 I''ve been using this knot for my braid to leader knot for years, with no issues. Last time out I had TWO of them come undone while playing fish. What am I doing wrong? (I've just noticed BobF suggests putting a spot of glue on it too, which I hadn't noticed before, but it would assume he's also had this happen for him to recommend a drop of glue). Does anyone have any suggestions, because one of those I lost was a nice fish! Quote
Rob Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 Never had an issue myself, are you doubling up the braid when you tie it?Is the mono you are tying to, too supple?R Quote

R Ive never had an issue till this last lot .... what do you mean by "doubling up the braid"? You could be onto something because these two knots were done on the same evening so I might have missed something. Quote
Rob Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 I was shown to double it up, esp with thin braid. Just make a 6/9" loop of braid and wrap that thought, up, down and back through instead of single strand......has worked for me.R Quote
jerry.shutter Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 I have the last 12 months been using the PR knot which i find excellent, so many good apps out there for knot tying. Quote
biggcol Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 You must make sure that you tuck the returning end back through the loop the same way it went in. Rob 1 Quote
