niggle Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 I'm now fishing Poole from mates boat as tides not suitable for Christchurch Quote
Hooky Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 You wouldn't believe how hard I am trying to get the boat sorted Total re-wire, new cables, new prop, etc etc, Was ready to fire up the old motor last night, failed again, starter motor decides to give up Last try this afternoon , starter going over to AJS in Wimbourne, if that can be sorted, she will get a few hours shakedown Saturday afternoon. If that goes wrongR it could be running around the harbour on a little 2.5 aux. If that fails you will here a shout on ch6 for a tow Quote
nightingale300 Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 We will be in and around the harbour saturday too as we are testing our boat VALTON formaly sparta. she has been out for 6 weeks for a complete refit, its been some very late nights after work but she was 99% finished at 11pm last night. all new stainless steal rails and arch complete with rod holders. fusion stereo all electrics rewired and some new toys. Three new pumps just in case Full engine and leg strip down and rebuild by mermaid marine. and been so tired i cant remember the rest. So there could be two of us that needs a tow in on saturday haha Good luck lets hope we both have a day of good trials. Quote
great white Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Good luck with the trials guys and Rob with the decision making about the weather. Charlie Quote
nightingale300 Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Thanks nige. hope we dont get to test out the new life jackets ha ha Quote
Rob Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Good luck with the trials guys and Rob with the decision making about the weather. Charlie It will all change and Saturdays weather will push in to Sunday and be lovely! I think that this could happen as we have seen the forecast change last minute before - it will have to get significantly worse for the Comp to be cancelled. Worse case, lets all go to the Boat House for a free curry! Rob Quote
Rob Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 OK - the forecast is improving on WindGuru since my last post! Windfinder is now looking fantastic! Met Office looks ok too! Fingers crossed!!!!! Quote

Rob Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Guys, I would say we are ON! Let's see what we can catch, the forecast is no worse than last year and the harbour and outside along the cliffs will be fishable, might just be a dogfest! Mark, there is no discount on fuel from Cobbs, launching is Quote
Paul D Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 and even better the forecast has just improved on windguru as well Quote
Jim Posted October 19, 2012 Author Report Posted October 19, 2012 My Chest infection seems to be O'K' now so I intend fishing the open. I have room for 1 crew if anyone fancies a day out on a little boat with a skipper who has no idea how to catch fish. Jim Quote

Well there's no point saying I'm a " spurt ". It's been so long since I've been out, I've forgotten my ( Alun Jones ) lessons. Jim Quote
Rob Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Make sure you post in the "need crew" part of the forum! I thought you were the dogfish king/queen, they always get in the prizes! Rob Quote
Mike Fox Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Folks, a slight issue for those with larger boats: - there's a high tide at 17:00 ish (apparently) on Sunday - there's no bridge lift at 16:30 I know a few club boats would struggle to get under after the 3.30 lift. As there's no 08.30 lift either, Frisky would only be able to be "out" from 9.30 to 3.30 on this basis, so am not going to be able to fish this one, and steam out too far! Good luck all who fish. Mike Quote
Brian Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) According to THIS there's a lift at 16:30. Mike You could go through at 07:30 and book in at Poole Angling. Edited October 19, 2012 by Brian Quote
Mike Fox Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) You're right Brian - my mistake - there is a 16.30 lift on the winter timetable, it was the 5.30 that's missing - which would be too late for the scales. Mike Edited October 19, 2012 by Mike Fox Quote
