Adam F Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 Steve, I wouldn't worry too much about bait. If its a cold spring and the mackerel are scare early on, it can be worth taking half a dozen to get started, but launce and mack can usually be found easily enough throughout the day. Other baits aren't usually worth bothering with. Lure and artificials for the wrecks and reef pollock are worth stocking up on. Ice? I think there is a sticky topic on here somewhere but the guys either use greenslades or Simon in Southborne. Quote

Adam F Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 Anyone taking a tender this year, or are most using the water taxi? Adam F 1 Quote
Steve S Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 I'm planning to take a tender, we are sleeping on the boat so I thought it would give us some flexibility. It's officially a 4 man.... Steve Quote
Adam F Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 If your sleeping onboard a tender is really handy, if not I think it's just as easy to manage with the water taxi. It's also helpful to reserve your mooring if its busy. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Greenslades can be hit and miss whether they sell you some ice or not. Never had a problem with south coast always happy to supply but do phone first and mention the club Martin Quote
Matt Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Five weeks and it still snowed! I may need a tent heater! Quote
Rob Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Sea temp recommended for Turbos is 52/55F, currently 53 in western approaches and 47 off Alderney. Lets hope 5 weeks is enough time for it to get to the target!!! Rob Quote
alun j. Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Only 5 C over the Ledge yesterday.........needs to warm up significantly before there's any sign of the bream. At this rate of 'warming', it could be full winter thermals for Alderney. Quote
