Birthday day off!

So, early start, set off at sunrise.

 

Planned to anchor and fish maccy heads from the summer to try and catch a bar of silver.

 

Well, who would have thought I would have found 1/2 a dozen mackerel whilst feathering at anchor.

 

So I up sticks and went on the drift. It was lovely, no Ned for gloves but still chilly.

 

Had one of about 4 to 5 lb, then lost a biggy, braid caught round rod tip!!!! Then a smaller 45cm bass.

 

Great day! Home boat trucked away by half 2.

It was good to be home early so u could open presents with the kids, then we went to Bournemouth for dinner.

 

Not sure I've caught mackerel in December before, first time for everything!
