On the basis that we have 4 or 5 boats now not able to make it and a couple unsure, with a very borderline forecast that gives gusts in excess of Jims max flying speed and the fact we haven't agreed a firm start time, I suggesting we postpone and go for another try in 2 weeks.

To make this work we need plenty of boats and decent conditions.

Apologies to anyone who had made plans. Clearly the weather was fine for the boats but it was the drone I was more concerned about, being expensive and not mine!

Had a text from Alun fishing off Milford who said it was pretty breezy so the pier can pic is a bit misleading.

Let's try the 22nd May? Yes it's the bream comp but means plenty of boats will be out.

Good call today guys

I was at ballard by 7, it started raining and the wind came up

The drone would not have flown today

When the sun came out it was nice in Swanage, gentle warm breeze.

For the second day running much better there than in Poole, and a few better size bream too.

My Brother & myself went over between Corfe & Studland @ 12:30 lunch time.

Went up to 400 feet no problems. Both drones flew well. :)

Got quite blowy later on though. I was scraping loose paint off the house and slapping new stuff on by then. :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Let's try to get this organised properly if it's going ahead please.

Just checked the weather ( again ) and so far it's improving for Sunday morning.

Reasonable breeze from the south east so sheltered in Studland bay.

Starts to go down hill after 10:00 though.

So - - - we could plan on a lie in and catch the 08:30 bridge lift to meet up in Studland bay for 09:00 ish or would 09:15 be better?

I already know 2 who can't make it.  Gaffa & GJB

Let's look at the numbers of who's in & who's out.

Jim
