Greg Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Unfortunately due to Carol falling ill overnight we will have to sit this one out. Good luck everyone Greg Jim and plaicemat 2 Quote
plaicemat Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Good luck everyone, I shall be absent. Buggering off fishing was considered to be a bit selfish on our 50th wedding anniversary. Anybody else think this is a bit harsh? Terry. niggle, Jim, boyscott and 3 others 3 3 Quote
Bobby Buoy Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Sadly my mate 'sea sick steve' was feeling query before the end of the swash! So we were limited to tucking ourselves out of the wind at Studland and back in on 11.30 Bridge! 🙄 On the plus side I did manage to catch some rays this afternoon 😎 Jim and Kingfisher 126 1 1 Quote

Steve S Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Graham 8lb 1oz Thornback Steve 10lb 8oz Thornback It was hard work but we managed to get 8 or so mackerel at the start of the flood, after that it was head to a ray mark. We had 6 thornies in all and a bonus couple of bass along with a black bream and a few dogs but fortunately not the whole kennels. What was probably going to be the biggest ray Graham could not persuade off the bottom he'd gain a little line only for it to slam to the bottom again, eventually the hook pulled, suspect it was foul hooked. I hooked what I thought for all the world was a big bass only to see a thorny of around 8lb surface! First ray of the day, 8-14 thornback Graham's best ray 8lb 1oz Best of the ray 10lb 8oz, weighted on the pontoon to get an accurate weight. Hooky, Bobby Buoy, niggle and 7 others 10 Quote
PeteS Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Undulate ray 12-8 Only found 1 large mackerel, this undie took the head. Guest had 2 more about 2 lb each. Several smooth hounds on squid and a couple of dogs. Pleasant day but a bit slow. Jim, Greg, Rob and 8 others 11 Quote
jerry.shutter Posted August 15, 2021 Author Report Posted August 15, 2021 14 Rays in the day. Jerry Small eyed 7-14 Thornback 9-15 Jerry 2 Small eyed 8-7 Spotted 2-15 Kev Small eyed 7-15 Spotted 3-12 We had a good mixture of fish through the day Tope, Smoothounds, Conger, Bream, Dogs, Conger, Bass, Mackerel (2)!, Scad. Much better weather than forecast and a beer at the end of the day doesn’t get much better. Neal, Hooky, Greg and 10 others 13 Quote
Mal Thomas Posted August 15, 2021 Report Posted August 15, 2021 We were pleasantly surprised with the weather also, we had a reasonable day with Blondes, Undulates, Conger and Stuie caught a couple of Red Gurnard for a bit of colour on the day besides our very red faces from the strong sunshine we did not expect. Stuie had a couple of battles with some sizeable congers as well as the opening Blonde Ray of the day. He's a bit photo shy.😃 Chris had a couple of sausage rolls, Ginsters pastie a couple of bakewell tarts and a few cups of tea😂 , unfortunately Stuie and I stole all the fish. I think my best Undulate was 11.5lb best blonde 12.8lb so no cigar but we had a good day. Stuie enjoyed a full on day out and was treated like the gent he is by Chris and Myself. Stuie captained us back ashore and then rushed off to get the beers in what a star. So much fun to have some candid banter with the Guy's, what did you have questions followed by silence till someone says their best was x, usually the bloke who knows he has'nt done enough. Cracking day wish more members attended, may be next time when they see the reports and fish. Stuie, niggle, PeteS and 7 others 10 Quote
