plaicemat
Does anyone know of somebody who does hull wrapping? I don't actually want the hull wrapped but two wheelhouse pillars that have got discolouring which I can't shift. Terry.
gaffa
Did you try Oxalic Acid ? plaicemat

Looking at it I thought it was sun damage but it is not all over, just in patches. I'm really scratching my head over this one, it's the only thing that is marring the appearance of the boat. Terry. Photo's when I'm next in Poole. Good thought about the T-cut, it does appear to be on the surface rather than ingress of discolouring into the gel coat. Terry. Maverick Martin
If it's just discolouration G3 cutting paste followed with a good polish then wax along with plenty of elbow grease. Apply G3 sparingly and use a random orbital polishing machine. Keep the surface wet and do not allow the gelcoat to get warm/friction burns. When the gel looks ok apply polish and the orbital polishing machine then finish off with hand applied and buffed up wax. Thats what I used to do with Awol's blue hull. I now have a tendency to pay others to save my sore arms Apparently, she does a very good job plaicemat

Jim
Terry, I have an electric polishing mop you can have. It is mains powered though so not sure about safety rules or availability of 240 volts. Although yours is dry stacked so could be lifted onto a safe place to work on it. plaicemat
great white
Getting someone to do the job for you as Martin does, would probably work out cheaper than wrapping plaicemat
plaicemat
Thanks for the offer Jim, I do have a cabled one myself, one of those things that I thought sometime in the past would be a Good Thing. I think I've used it once! Charlie, I think you are correct when I figure in travelling time and fuel costs. Would that be a fibreglass specialist or a boat valet. I asked Darren at MD to give it a go in the spring when he did the boat but he only managed to get a good shine on the discolouration. Terry. great white
If Darren failed to polish it out it could be staining in the gellcoat Try giving Marty Cobb a call, 07860 200220 He is one of the best GRP repair guys around, but he is usually very busy plaicemat

Just bung a couple of those "coin of the realm" things to the NCI at the next meeting or something like that. Steve S
I used New Forest Signs (https://www.newforestsigns.co.uk/ yes really) to do a wrap on my boat in 2017, they were very good and the wrap is still good. I got the blue panel done above the wheelhouse, before no matter how much it was cut back it would soon fade again. Since then I've only had to wash it 🙂. plaicemat
Interesting! I had spotted a lot of sign firms doing it but thought, obviously erroneously, that it would be a specialist job. I shall explore that if the G3 paste doesn't work. Thanks. Terry. plaicemat
As I was saying......! Roberto Rodas has (at last) finished the damage to my hull caused by Cobb's and, while he was putting the finishing touches, I asked him to have a look at the pillars of my windscreen. His advice was that they are actually plastic, that the damage is sun based and that the fix is to obtain new ones and he can fit them, circa £1000.00! Going back to my original question, I noticed a thread on the Jeanneau facebook forum about a guy who had the pillars etc wrapped on his boat by a firm in Southampton who specialised in boats. I thought it would not be a goer with the travelling but gave them a call anyway. Seems he is doing a job for the RNLI on the 16th January (handy) and could do mine at the same time and the price is not prohibitive so hopefully, job done. As I have bought G3 paste, I will just give it a try first but I'm not hopeful. Terry.
Maverick Martin
2 cans of spray paint circular £20 plus £8 worth of low tack masking tape plus your time 👍

The wrap solution should be permant'ish provided I'm careful not to attack is with anything abrasive or corrosive (like oxalic acid), all it needs is cleaning with soapy water. Terry.
