Flounder Competition 11 December

I'm intending to do something of a report of the event to send to the fishing mags. Hopefully winners with their flounders 🤞.

What a day!!!!

 

I am sure some pictures will follow in due course, the fishing unfortunately was slow to say the least, only two fish caught ALL day by all anglers present!!! We were the lucky boat 15 minutes from the end I had what looked like a Plaice Flounder hybrid ( hopefully there is a picture of this fish) and J2 had a plump 1lbs Flounder as I was unhooking my fish.

 

The weather was quite horrendous in the morning with a lot of snow/ice/slush all over the boats, I think all boats had good cooked Sunday lunch and a glass of wine or two.

 

Well done everyone who took part, a serious test of being a totally mad bonkers fisherman, a quick drink with everyone at Cobbs finished a day to remember.

Sorry I couldn't make it today, I'm not allowed out on my own so disappointed. However the weather conditions and lack of fish mean I didn't miss much, except meeting the totally mad bonkers fishermen in the Cobbs bar.

Well what fun we had.

 

Meeting up with Kev just after 7, on an icy pontoon in minus 6.

Thankfully Kev had the kettle and the heater on so that's a good start.

 

We were joined by Dave and blindfolded I was taken to the "secret spot". where we drank our coffee, put the traces on and baited up. we were soon joined by the rest of the fleet, so the spots not that secret

 

Lines in at 8 and lets start feeding a pile of worms to crabs.

We all huddled in the cabin, enjoying the warmth from the heater and crispy bacon roll.

 

Not a sign of any fish, and the sky had clouded over

Then the snow started and just got heavier and heavier.

 

 

The highlight of the day was definitely not the fishing, it was the fillet steak lunch

We stuck with it, catching only crabs, the snow stopped but it still looked very wintery

 

At 3 it was time to call it a day and start the trip back to Cobbs, it was good to see Jerry carrying a bucket with a fish for the scales. well done J2 for getting an elusive flounder of 1lb.

Nice one champ.

 

It might not sound as if we enjoyed it, but that is not the case.

I had a nice time fishing with two good mates. Enjoyed lots of drinks , nice food and banter onboard.

 

Finishing off having a couple of beers with more mates at the bar.

Good right up Charlie 

yes it was a tough old day but good fun had by all, well we had a good laugh 

sorry I rushed off when I seen the snow and ice in Cobbs car park 

I moored up and a quick wash down with sea water taps frozen 

then got homeward bound as soon as I could 

 

well done Jerry 2 worthy winner 👍👏👏
