Chaps,

Sunday is meant to be the re-scheduled Lure Comp. The weather is once again looking hard to call, as it is forecast to blow like hell until early Sunday morning, then drop and switch to the North.

The water is likey to be damn murky though due to the blow, so I'm eering on the side of postponing once again - however, I'll post on Sat morning with the decision.

Cheers

The weather looks more promising for the re-scheduled lure comp this weekend.

Are their still the species around that can be caught with lures?

Bass is an obvious one - if they can be caught, and mackeral if they are still around.

Anyone any other suggestions, or is it likely that all the summer species have left for sunnier climes!

In this area summer species are around for another couple of months. As soon as the weather calms down they reappear. Mackerel can be caught up to november close inshore if there is an offshore breeze and bass are virtually year round these days. Bream tend to move off by october but most other fish can still be targeted. The sea is now at its warmest and only cools down slowly between now and december so the mix of summer and winter species makes it the best fishing time of the year.

Big thanks to Neal for inviting me on board Court Jester.

Neal, John, Gordon & Me set off from Cobb's at about 9.00am.

It was a lovely clear morning. Neal has found that an Arvour 250 without loads of equipment bolted to the roof will go under the bridge with the depth display at 2.35 metres. But it's as tight as a Boss's wallet.

Once through the bridge we set off for the open sea. Gordon and Neal planning the strategy as we went.

Just outside of the harbour, Neal did a " Handbrake Turn " " Look " he shouted there's fish all around us.

We quickly deployed the feathers.

John had a Garfish & I had a Mackerel.

More boats were coming through and the fishing went quiet so we headed off.

We spotted Alfresco and went to say hello. ( photos to follow ).

Then off to our " secret " drifts.

We had Mackerel, Pollack, Trigger,

Got to go - - - Break's over.

Ill add some more and some photos tonight.
