Brian
Reconditioned Ford 2.0L SOHC (Pinto) engine, with new marinisation parts fitted. Engine has only done about 2 hours running since reconditioning, including new camshaft, cam belt and unleaded head conversion. Enfield outdrive, plus complete spare outdrive and another spare casing and lots of parts. Engine and outdrive are installed in a 20ft GRP hull (believed to be a Colvic Sea Scout). I was going to completely refit the hull, due to rot in some of the timber, but have decided I don't want to spend the time as I'd rather replace it with a trailerable boat. Coddy
Good luck with the sale Brian What sort of boat are you going to look for this time? Coddy
Brian
Hi Dave I'd like a Warrior 175 but they're a bit out of my price range, so will probably go for a Raider 18 Fisherman. I want something I can tow, as I'm sure I'll use it more. With my jetty being above the bridge at Wareham I'm very tied to tides, Can't get under the bridge at high tide, hit the bottom at low tide. Also I use a lot of fuel and time getting down the river and through the harbour. Car parking in Wareham can be a problem and it means a long walk to the boat, with all the gear. TomBettle
Brian Good luck with the sale. Just a thought, but for the cost of fuel (and your time and your inconvenience) getting to the harbour entrance, why don't you take a swinging mooring at any of the usual suspects in the main habour? We have plenty at Parkstone Bay and I can't see it would take too many trips to make the time and fuel saving worthwhile? Not trying to sell you one of ours, but whilst cruising th river is pretty, it's very boring and tedious. I couldn't spend over two hours everytime I go out trundling up and down... Brian
Tom It's an idea, but I really fancy trailing. I used to keep Figment on a trot mooring at Rockley, then moved into Cobbs. The reason for going to Wareham was a friend offered me the use of his jetty and the cost was only
Coddy
Nice choices Brian, hope this does not start a discussion on the merits of both boats like other forums! I quite like the Jenu 580 or the equiverlant Beneteau/Ocqueteau Maybe worth a look when you are ready. Dave I was almost afraid to say what I fancied, I've seen the discussions on WSF regarding the merits of the various models and didn't want to start anything here. Must admit I looked at the 580, I've a friend who keeps one at Parkstone Bay, but thought it looked a bit cramped for fishing. I'm also considering a Warrior 165. Trouble is my "short list" keeps getting longer!!! Edited February 16, 2009 by Brian
codpiece
Good luck with your sale Brian,I have brought my Longliner off the mooring and intend to trail it everywhere, I think it will be just as conveniant safe at home and kitted out ready to go instead of rowing gear etc out to a mooring all the time at

Adam F
Best of luck with the sale Brian. I dont think you'll get the same 'arguments' on here if you ask for boat advice! Warrior 165, Raider 18, MF580 etc - ask away, there is as much experiance on here as over on WSF without all the crap! Adam
Brian
Adam Thanks for that. What would you consider to be the ideal hp for a Warrior 165, generally 2 people and fishing gear.
Adam F
What would you consider to be the ideal hp for a Warrior 165, generally 2 people and fishing Easy one - 75hp, no questions. I had a 50hp on mine first time round, it was too small and struggled to plane the boat when fully loaded. When I upgraded I put a 60hp on, which was better but a fast cruise meant running the revs quite high. Gordon Moore (Manic Moore) who has Enticer, has a 75hp Etec on his - and it is superb. The 4 strokes are quieter on tick over, but when running they are about the same. The 75hp Etec pushes the Warrior along effortlessly and is frugal on fuel. If you cant find / get an Etec or want a 4 stroke then either a Suzuki or Honda in that order. Hope that helps. Adam
Brian
Thanks Adam. I think my short list has just got shorter, at the moment it's looking like a Warrior 165 with 75hp E-tec, (although this could change). Jim
I have a Warrior 165 with a 75 E-Tec. Just had the service done last Friday. Service interval - 3 years or 300 hours. It cost
Brian
One step closer to next boat. Figment is sold. Just the trailer to go now, see separate ad. Edited February 24, 2009 by Brian
Adam F
Well done Brian - great news! I'd love the trailer, perfect for when JV needs to come out, but I cant really justify having it sat round for one use a year - it's a cracking trailer though. Have you put it on the trailer section of boats and outboards?
Brian
Not yet, only just sold the boat, delivering it on Saturday (Bristol). That was through Boats and Outboards, advert placed Friday, sold Saturday subject to viewing, which was today. Thought I'd offer the trailer to club members first. Go on Adam, you know you want to, think of it as an early Christmas present. Edited February 24, 2009 by Brian
