Jim
What Size / Price / Trailing or Mooring. There was a Warrior available a while back. Have you been on many boats to make a decision ? etc. etc. etc. Jim
Newboy
Usually when a chartered is cancelled, it's due to weather being too rough/unsafe. If a big boat is deemed unsafe, a small boat would have even less chance. However your own boat does offer the chance of a snap decision to fish where there may not be any charters spaces available. Good luck with your search. Start with something small and easily handled.
Coddy
Hi Adam Welcome to the site. I would suggest you join our club, or your local club if you live further away, and get some feel of how smaller boats suit you as many don't like it after they buy a boat. Many members here are only too willing to get crew and talk about their craft. Get out on as many craft as you can so you get some idea of what is available. I have made a web site which might help you, called www.fishing-boats.info Good luck on your dream and keep us informed how you get on. TomBettle
Hi Bass Man Welcome to the PBSBAC forum. I echo the other comments about joining the club properly, you'll get so much more out of it. I also echo the comments about telling us more about the type of boat you want.... size, budget, style, what is your main fishing techinque (eg: Stalking the lowtide line for Bass and Mullet or anchoring for Winter Cod or heading to distant wrecks)? Given more information, the club members will help you find the perfect boat for your particular needs. Gnasher
u will still get a very decent boat for that price, but the better deals come up in the winter. I bought mine, Dat Dam Boat, an 18 ft Red Bay Fisher, on a trailer with a 40hp Mariner that does 21 knots for 2k. Pic below, but it just shows what you can find if you keep your eyes peeled. Gnasher
Its only small and cheap, but ive fished the 9 mile banks, no problem at all, fished the needles winter cod grounds on lots of occasions, and and drifted the bridge for bass in lumpy conditions. There are benifits of having a top of the range boat, but you can also do very well with something of either older and or lower spec. Dat Dam Boat with lots of shiney stainless.... Brian
Adam Something like this might be ok. Doesn't meet your spec as far as engine size tho'. Ignore the log in, just click on "Motor Boats" . Icelander Edited May 14, 2009 by Brian
TomBettle
I was joking Bass Man ...sort of joking! Most of the regulars on here no me well enough to know what I do for a living and I am fortunate (unfortunate ) enough to work with some of them too. Seriously, a great bunch and complete with my very expensive (broken) boat, I shall be tapping you up for a trip out on your excellent cheap one. You can get an awesome fishing package for the money you have so don't worry. Tom

duncan
just an observation on 'value' - you may have done well in Nov - Feb, even early March but right now most boats of the sort you are looking at are priced at their peak because more people are looking now (than in Nov and Dec!) TomBettle
just an observation on 'value' - you may have done well in Nov - Feb, even early March but right now most boats of the sort you are looking at are priced at their peak because more people are looking now (than in Nov and Dec!) That would typically be the case Duncan, but right now there are bargains galour as people are getting increasingly desparate to sell and get capital back. It's a shame, but true. We are selling shed loads of used boats at the moment. The only proviso is that they must be a bargain.
