Coddy Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Adam What are the rules? Can you use feathers? How many hooks? Dave Quote
Adam F Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 Same as usual dave. 2 hooks on 1 rod, or 1 hook on 2 rods. Feathers can be used as can any lure. The fish must be caught on a lure - not bait. I'm unclear on baited lures - think we ruled against this. Quote
alun j. Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 NO !! It's three hooks. Trebles and pennels count as one.... so one of those big plugs with three trebles on is OK. I don't think baited hooks are allowed. Points score as per usual species hunt. Quote

Jim Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Right ! So it's 3 hooks and not tipped ? Any 7 hour period between 06.00 & 18.00 ? There's no food afterwards ? Is this where we've done a deal at Cobb's to launch for a Tenner, or is that the Open later in the year ? Do we just photograph, weigh and release ? When and where do I collect my winnings ? And would someone post a points - species list or a link to it please. Thankee Kindly. Jim. PS We have a space on Small Fry if anyone wants to be on the winning boat ? ? ? Quote

biggcol Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Sorry for this stupid question but do mackeral count? Just to confirm also, is it the most species caught on lures, or the best single specimine. Cheers Colin Quote
Jim Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Sorry for this stupid question but do mackeral count? Just to confirm also, is it the most species caught on lures, or the best single specimine. Cheers Colin Ditto your question Big Col I spoke to Dave ( Wight Magic ) earlier, and he said it was not species - it was specimen. Jacquie says I have to wee in a bottle - I'd be good at that. So can someone on the committee clarify for us please ? Not that it'll make any difference to me whether it's species or specimen - it only counts if you can catch summat. I'm looking forward to a day out though ! Jim Quote

Jim Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Well I caught the SUN My face is redder than a monkey's Bum ! Me and Steve had some fish too. I had Pollack, Pout, Mackerel, Bass. Steve had Pollack & Mackerel. We saw Court Jester off Brownsea Castle, and had a go there as well. We spoke to Bill ( Ferret ) & Dave on Lady Christine over the radio. We stopped and spoke to Carl & Aaron on Overdraft. We headed off over to the West but the Sea got a bit uncomfortable the other side of Swanage so we headed back. We saw Court Jester again, Neal seemed to be doing well ( again ). Got a few photos. I'll sort them out tomorrow - too knackered now. I think it was a pout ( I'll post photo tomorrow ) What a Cracking Day ! ! ! Jim Quote
carl/overdraft Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Thought we were going to have a nice smooth day out in the sun ~~~~ WRONG. The sun was ok but smooth not. Headed west and soon bagged up with Mackeral. Further west and had a few drifts around Durleston no takes only water over the top. A few drifts off Pevril with nowt and an ever increasing sea. Down to Bourne mouth Scad and a Gurnard. decided we had enough of being thrown about and headed into Brownsea for a few drifts on the bit of flood.Weed Weed and more Weed. Nice chat with Jim then more Weed. HOME. Carl 4 Mackeral. 1 Gurnard (Red). 4 Scad. Aaron 4 Mackeral. 3 Scad. Sorry but not very productive. Off on Hollybobs now, bye bye. Quote
seaspark Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Fished the ledge and enjoyed the sun till lunchtime The conditions weren't too bad compared to recent outings and managed to try all sorts of lures with my new spinning rod i got on sat The run was manic with all the boats around for the RNLI fun day but managed to weave my way home without collision before low tide. Apart from half a dozen mackeral didn't get anything else. In my six trip boating career all I have ever caught is mackeral, l was looking forward to something different for tea. Maybe next time... Maverick Martin Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Dean and I probably only fished for abour 2.5 hours the rest of the day was spent playing and socialising alongside Serenity Scores on the doors for us are very poor Martin 4 mackerel Dean 4 Mackerel 1 Scad I did have a play in Durlston bay but used a slither of macky caught Pollock and had a Bass follow but of course not caught on lure so these don't count but still a bit of fun Martin Quote
Adam F Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 Thanks to all who fished - a good turn out - must have been the poo weather we've been having! I'll sort the scores this week when they are all in. Sorry for the lack of reply to Q's as to the comp on or not. Ive not been able to get online since Friday and guessed with a good forecast you'd all be out anyway. Rgds Adam Quote
