Mike Fox Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Well done chaps!!! We tried a couple of spots from Frisky Fox, in our first trip in about 2 months, but an inshore mark 90 minutes "out" (for us) didn't seem the best of choices in hindsight...nor whole squid to 3/0 pennels on 100lb trace. Hey, we might just have had one or two ! Unfortunately we were plagued with doggies and smallish whiting, and not a flounder in sight. Second spot seemed a slightly better choice...in sight of Wight Magic, Court Jester and Gastronaut in Holes Bay, and we changed the squid for ragworm on a No 4 fine wire, but alas, still no flounder. Well done all who persevered! Mike Quote
pirky Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Well done Alun......seems that choosing what went into the hamper did the trick !! 3 years on the trot ??? that's gotta be a challenge for some one to break the sequence....... Have a wonderful Xmas and enjoy the hamper of goodies. Jim.......Just out of the prizes.....oops !! too much washing up last week !! Have a good'un this xmas mate Quote
Jim Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 We were moored up and ready to start at 8.00 Dave, Lee, Mark ( Zippy ) and Myself. I was lucky enough to get the first fish. 1lb 8oz flounder. Then it all went quiet again and we were discussing Dave and Neal's scrap for top place in the Species Comp. Dave was saying how Neal was in a good position to overtake him, when the Jammy Beggar pulled out a -- - - - - Rocky something ( I'll have to sort out a photo cos I've forgotten it's name! ) Well that was it then ! Off he went and caught 3 Flounders. ( It's all down to feromones y'know ) A very cold but enjoyable day. I enjoyed meeting Zippy and getting a chance for a chat. Shame the fishing was a bit slow, but if they gave a prize for the most CRABS- - - - - I'd be in with a shout ! Thanks again Dave. Jim Quote

Graham Nash Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 I always called those "Rocky things" a Rockling .... I might be completely wrong tho'. Am afraid instead of fishing with my son, I spent the day taxi-ing my daughter around today when her head gasket went on her car yesterday Maybe next year huh? Quote

Rob Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I had a great Day with Adam on JV (superb boat, I was well impressed!). We went offshire to search for something a little bigger but alas, a few whiting for the pot was all we coudl find! Though the sausage and bacon rolls made up for it (nearly)! We were about to hurl some abuse to a WAFI who tacked were close to us, but on further inspection we no sails up we saw it was FriskyFox - good to see her out and trying for a cod. We popped back in to flounder bash for the last hour - Adam had one so we can at least say we tried! Thanks again Adam (and Bob). Rob Quote
