Just about an inch at the peak of it settling at Ringwood....started about 10 and now all but stopped.

School closed about 12.15 so Ben back home.

I have just finished clearing up after a pipe Froze and split some time on Mon Night......Luckily I was around as it defrosted last night and started to flood me.....so minimal damage. My plumber popped out this morning and had it sorted in an hour..just left me to do clearing up.....Now I have everything double lagged.

Weird coincidence of boiler going out some time Monday night, the last foot of the hot water tank expansion pipe not being lagged too well, and a cold cold night.(-6 deg C at my home )......... Oh Well could have been a lot worse !!

Hope all you out there are fortunate and don't get too affected by the snow etc !!

We were allowed to leave early yesterday as the forecast was bad. Good job as there was a 24 ! mile queue of traffic later in the evening.

Working from home today as Havant is pretty much snowed in.

My work car park last night !

I am stuck in pub\hotel in Kirtlington north of Oxford - oh well, could be worse!

Rob

I know Kirtlington well Rob.

Which pub are / were you stuck in?

I used to be a member of the golf club there and back in the late 90's when I had my drinks business we concocted our alcoholic milk shake concoction called "Moo" in one of those pubs. You can still just about find stuff on google about Moo if you look....

Just drove to work this morning and almost got stuck in the car park. That bad I decided to turn around ( in the works car park ) and come home ( even then needed to get 2 people to help me get unstuck )/

At the A27 / A3 junction at Bedhampton there are cars abandoned everywhere. The road towards Leigh Park had 4 cars sideways on just left in the middle of it.

Hi Rob ,

It was good to meet you last night and have a fishing chat over a couple of pints . I couldn't believe it when i read your thread saying that you were stranded in a hotel in kirtlington ,which happens to be right next door to my home. I would also like to say a big hello to all the other club members and thank them , as i feel as though i know most of them personally and have gained a huge amount of fishing knowledge by becoming a member and reading the forum on a daily basis.

My brother and myself were brought up beach fishing on the East coast and progressed to boat fishing about 12 years ago , we now fish the Christchurch and Lymington area as my brother has just moved to Burton near Christchurch .

As you suggested Rob , i would like to buy a club pennant , so maybe someone could let me know where i can buy one.

Living in Oxfordshire can be a bit frustrating being a keen sea angler , but the club forum keeps me in touch with whats going on and more importantly what's being caught !

Hopefully i will meet some more members soon , but in the mean time keep fishing and tight lines to everyone.

Regards , Chris. ( Easty )

P.S Tombettle's Moo drink may have been invented in the Oxford arms. ( maybe i was the test dummy )

he bought me out of the closet

Before Jim comments, I would just like to confirm this is a turn of phrase and we were a couple of manly men having a few beers, in a public bar with other people around!!

Good to meet you Chris, might be around for a pint again, but not too soon as Oxfordshire has turned in to an Alpine resort!!!!

I used to live in Kidlington, my warehouse was in New Yatt (North Leigh) and me and a mate had a little drinks wholesale company called En-Toute-Caisse. We sold booze to pubs and clubs around Oxfordshire.

I can't remember the name of the pub (think it was the Dashwood), but it was VERY run down at the time (late 90's). The one on the corner not the one near the post office.

Two ex pats who had returned from Oz were running it and I cold called on them to try and sell them drinks.

In return, they brought out a bottle of what was called "Lava" a milk and wine based product. Between us we concocted a variation to suit the alcopops boom in the UK and "Moo" was launched in a pub in Eynsham where we leaked the info to the press. First, BBC Radio Oxford who put it to Reuters and then BOOM!

Trouble is, we were a tiny company, with no experience and no financial backing. We took off like an absolute rocket, but simply couldn't cope and crashed very shortly after.

The ex pats were great guys, but possibly had slightly dubious pasts and gently dissapeared leaving Paul and myself with a slightly shell shocked feeling and the need to get proper jobs!

I don't know if the family is still there in Kirtlington, but if they are say hello to Pam from the golf club for me!

All the best

Tom,

It definitely would have been the Dashwood pub , it's now the Dashwood hotel after being privately bought and the owner spending 2 years and a massive amount of dosh on it , you wouldn't recognise it know but sadly not really a village pub any more , but great place to stay and excellent food .

Pam still does own Kirtlington golf club and it's a great club and course , very relaxed and a newish club house after they managed to get a lottery grant . I will send her your regards.

Cheers , Chris.

Nice one Chris.

Pam is one of the friendliest customers I remember having. Bumped into her a couple of times since and have seen the club house very shortly after it was built.

Give her a hug and say hello.

All the best

Tom
