  1. Jack, I often put my three year old daughter on the line; that confuses them for a little while
  2. That makes me feel like I've been stitched up . Are sure it wasn't 250 ft.
  3. Had a day out with Matt and Alan (non member). We stopped off of Pevril on the way out and you could have almost walked on the mackerel;right under the boat. We drifted for a few hours with the wind steadily freshening. Matt caught his first ever tope, it weighed 17 lbs. Alan had two smaller ones of about 10 or 12 lbs. I had three cracking runs and managed to lose all three. A technique problem I think. The wind beat us eventually and we tried off of Swanage and then Ballard for bream with no luck. Although I didn't land a fish I can definately see the attraction of tope fishing and can't wait to have another go. Thanks to Matt for another great day out
  4. Bob, I thought Barry's prices were pretty good until I spotted ropeseller23 on E-Bay. I bought 100m of 10mm nylon for about
  5. Fished on the Patch for about 1 1/2 hrs on Monday. Caught one nice bream (2lbs 10ozs) on the slack. Then tried Ballard. No bream but two Smoothounds one on the bream rod and one on feathers which were only about 20 feet down. Tried the Patch again today. I caught nothing on the ebb but had four nice bream, two on the slack and two as the tide started. I also lost loads of gear on the ebb but only one hook on the flood. Could n't go wrong with mackerel . Workmates and neighbours were pleased. Too many wrasse on both days. I'm off out with Matt tomorrow, hopefully for some tope, you never know.
  6. It's no oil painting
  7. A line that passes through all meridians at the same angle. When drawn on a Mercator chart, the rhumb line is a straight line. However the Mercator chart is a distortion of a round globe on a flat surface, so the rhumb line will be a longer course than a great circle route. I've just Googled it and come up with this Bob.
  8. Charlie, I have also experienced these conditions in a 70ft fishing boat many times off the north coast of Scotland including dodging for 24hrs with 110 knot gusts. Very exciting to a point but not to be recommended I will be very surprised if we see a force 11 on the south coast in May. I don't think it's blown that hard for over a year has it?
  9. You've probably got your photo program set to wipe the card after uploading. You could always upload and then burn them to a disc and then take the disc to Boots.

    Hi Spurdog

There's a boat called Spurdog in a drive on Alder Road. Could that be you? Not sure if it's an Orkney though;maybe.
  13. If you are in the Poole harbour and approaches it is a good idea to monitor channel 14 to hear shipping movements etc.
  14. Butterflies Jack. Big ones!
  15. http://www.stainless-steve.co.uk/ Try this for Stainless Steve Engineering.
  16. My Orkney 520 with four stroke yamaha 30hp reaches 22 knots with myself and my small son with me. With two adults it's more like 18 -20 knots. It is a bit bumpy at speed though.
  17. Overdraft, Thats all TW had all day...... oh I forgot the two pout he had as well
  18. Jack, I definately made up for your lack of leads lost (great aliteration!). I lost at least six; I think one or two were stuck into a crabbers backline. Simon.
  19. Here's another pic, I know they're only doggies but he'll be chuffed when he sees himself on the internet when he gets the chance
  20. We all had a great day out on Two Ways today. It was the first time for about 19 years all four of us have fished together on the same boat and it only seemed as if it was yesterday. I don't think I have ever seen so many boats fishing in the same place before; I quickly counted 25 but it could have been more. We didn't see any bream but we managed to score a few points by the close of play. We all had a good laugh when my dad (Terry Way) caught a garfish and a pollack on the same trace;"7 points thank you very much" we didn't give him much stick I'd just like to say thanks to all who organised it and all four of us can't wait until the next one, thanks Simon.
  21. Look out for us tomorrow Kim. The four of us will be up for it aboard Two Ways. We're leaving Salterns Marina at about 07.15 if Tony can manage to stay in tonight
  22. Admin. Did you edit out the Lat and Long so you could keep the position for yourself? nope no lat and long edited just general location, if club members want info no problem go to club members only section and ask away....admin
  23. Bob, Is this a good deal?Would this reel be suitable as a bass reel?
  24. Jack, Did you buy nylon. If so what size was it and if I'm not being too nosey, how much was it. I've only got about 60m and I'm looking at buying some more. Cheers, Simon.
  25. Those garfish are off to Alderney as we speak (type). Tony left on a five day trip on board Tango Bravo with Steve Porter.
