Thanks for the heads up Mike, Alderney Week I guess is making it extra busy. Glad I am taking my dingy with o/b could be a long run to the pontoon or a long wait for the taxi. I am quite expecting to anchor with good weather forcast well ahead and arriving late after fishing the banks.

Weather still looking good for Alderney I am planning to go for 3 days Saturday until Monday, looks like 3 boats are making the trip. I was going with 2 crew, however, one has had to pull out so currently it's Clive and myself. I am happy to take 1 or 2 more club members along so if you are interested please PM me. We will leave from Lymington.

I've done a fair few international trips, some have been brilliant and some just ok. When I get back I am always more than happy to go fishing here. Tope, Conger cod, flatfish Bass and such like all good. The only thing I really struggle with is fishing for mini species and LRF holds no attraction.

God if we start doing that there won't be many left in the club!

They are separate from the steering hoses and as far as I can remember quite short. I don't have the part numbers but cost is £162 and £154.8 (at least it was 2 years ago) for the two. The steering host kit was £183

Though expensive it's a good thing to replace those Volvo hydraulic hoses, I had to do all mine 2 years ago, it seems to be how long they last before expiry (6-7 years). The newer types are made of a harder plastic and look like they will last longer. I assume all the bellows have been done as well. Nice shiny prop - give it a month it will be black. Good safety feature that, not allowing the engine to start when well trimmed up, shame it doesn't tell you why it won't let you start the engine! Caught me out for a while once. Engine Trimming problems, I have a medal for that. Suggested causes (I've had all these): rotted crimps to the trim relays; crimps pushed out of the trim relay block when the trim relay inserted, very hard to spot this problem; failed trim relay (take care if replacing with cheap car ones, the pin are often longer and can push out the crimps also they lack protection from corrosion; 2 wire connector to the trim pump pushed home but does not made contact, hard to spot, apply power direct to the motor connector to test; 3 pin sensor connector does not make contact but otherwise look ok. I am mighty impressed Adam that you can achieve all this inside a year while holding down a job and a family.

Sounds ok, better than before at least the size is 42cm for all. I see it is just for 2015 at the moment but does not start until 1st September. So what happens in 2016....

Nanofil: seems usable but I haven't formed a view that I will switch to it over braid, one of my friends has been using it for around a year and liked it so I am giving it a go. It takes me time and an extended test to make my mind up on line.

Standard gear 30lb whiplash pro - reliable, thin (needs less lead) Heavy gear 50lb whiplash pro next time I fill them, currently on power pro which is fine but a little thicker. I also have one reel with 30lb Nanofil I am checking out. Steve

Totally agree Ian, it is all to easy to blame the EU for everything not right. It is our government that has to do more to protect local waters. Maybe it is me just being out of touch, but what has happened about commercial bass fishing, have new rules been passed on size limits? Steve

That's great Lofty loved it. I mainly use hardback crabs for them fished live. They are not as instant peelers but generally outfish squid.

I think applying superglue could be counter productive. The principle seems to be that the braid tightens round the mono as the line pressure is increased stopping it slipping out superglue round the braid knot would stop that. Will need to try.

Thanks for posting. Well that is a new one to me. Looks strong if the mono does not slip out. I will give it a try at home first.
