  1. Dear Club Members, December 3rd Christmas monthly meeting will be special as we have a guest speaker Siobhan Payne whose husband was wounded whilst in the Forces. Siobhan will be talking about what happened and the impact Heroes On the Water and other charities have had on her husband Martin, and the rest of the family. Martin will hopefully be joining Siobhan (family commitments permitting). HOW is a charity run purely on donations. As its Christmas an idea to help is to bring along any tackle that you feel you could donate. Unused prizes, terminal tackle, weights, feathers, rigs and even a rod or reel (light duty). Martin Hurst of HOW says all donations would be greatly received. (Please not all the tangled rusted tackle in the bottom of our boxes) Also on the night Nigel and Sandy will be hosting the Xmas Raffle, and it has been known for Father Christmas to come along too!! So lets make it a meeting to remember to round off the year and give everyone an insight into the benefits HOW play in these peoples lives. Siobhan and Martin are coming from Plymouth for the meeting so lets show them our support by having a large attendance on the night. So please invite family and friends to come along too. A reminder in your diary now so no excuses to miss the meeting... Miss it miss out. Updates for the evening to follow.
  2. She neads to go bac too skool!!
  3. Have a good day Peter, fishing?
  4. Careful Jim, sounds like you might be giving all of Jacqui's secrets away!!
  5. A tip I had off a charter skipper was wrap your fish in foil before you freeze and when you need them they are like fresh bait! On my list to try while the macky's are still about ready for the winter. Scad are really good done like it for winter bait for Whiting!
  6. I always support this Comp, as Sam says support the local guys or we will miss them when they've gone!!
  7. Have a good one Colin.

  9. Are you going for a hat trick of comp wins Dave?? Count me in!!
  10. I did ask him if he fancied a quick drift for a plaice or two down the Swash, he wasn't all that keen!!
  11. I did give Dave an option of white or brown rolls, I think he needs to man up on his salt intake!!
  12. Dogfish Dave, Bass 5lb
  13. Had a call from Dave yesterday and we decided to go today as the weather looked not too bad and he hadn't been out for a while. Bass was our target species. Left at 7 wind not too bad at all and off for some live bait, no problem plenty of mackys and small scad, perfect throttle down and double figure knots (just, before you comment Nigel). By the time we got on the banks it had roughed up a tad!!!! Not a problem it will flatten on the ebb tide!! Wrong, very wrong!!!! A nice hit first drift, fish on, get it up and a tope, and that was all that was hitting the baits every drop. Tide dropped away and tope left with it, then the wind held us still against the last of the flood, easier than sitting at anchor. Dropped down a flapper and caught a spotted ray. Once the ebb started nothing on the first couple of drifts so punched into the weather to give another bank a try. Dave lands a 3lb Bass so not a blank day, then a few more drifts a couple of dropped fish and as bait was getting low decided to drop back onto first bank. Dave then lands a 4lb 10oz weighed on land as it was showing around 6lb at sea. I dropped yet another!!! (anchor comes to mind!!!) Dave the Bass then lands another on the next drift weighed on land at 5lb. Now I'm starting to feel a little left out of the party, even more so when he then lands a 3lb 10oz, by now our baits were finished so had a last drift with a red gill and Dave using dead macky, nothing taken so home we went! Well surfing back at times touching 20knots was a bit of fun for Dave helming as I made some cheese and tomato rolls. Would you like some salt Dave I asked, please he said, salt opened and splat the poxy lid came off and filled rolls with salt!!! :( (photo to follow) They were sent over a ground bait as Dave almost threw up trying one that had been unsalted badly, not easy as everything is flying around!! Came in via swash channel as East Looe on the bottom of the ebb and an Easterly best keep clear. Coming down the swash the swells were topping 15ft at times so quite hairy. A day where it was less than ideal to be out but the wind was nothing like they said it would be. A fun day with the usual banter and p--- taking not to mention about Bassing lessons from Dave next time out!!
  14. Make sure that tender is watertight Greg!!!!!!!

  18. Thanks for putting the comps together Sam great effort, always plenty to do behind the scenes aswell. A great day yesterday with the weather being perfect and some cracking fish turning up. Can someone please do some turning before I smash this tablet to bits!!!!!! Done!
  19. Had a daddy day care day today and as the weather was looking so good it would be rude not to use up the leftover bait from yesterday. I asked Stuie if he fancied a few hours out and soon agreed a late start at 9.30ish and back by 2.30ish. Off we went with a plan to fish the swash for a few plaice, well we talked ourselves into giving the harbour a try on the way through. 1st drift and 5 species, Baillons Wrasse, Bass, Red Mullet, Tub Gurnard and a Plaice. May aswell give that another try we said and so we did, again and again we never passed Aunt Betty and didnt pass Stakes. We also had Corkwing, Ballon and a small pout. The amount of Tubs and Plaice caught were well into double figures and a couple of large Red Mullet so a nice selection of fish and a few kept for the table as a real bonus. Thanks Stuie for the great company and book you gave Blake and sitting down reading it to him between catchingfish! Good luck with your comp tonight. Best I go to work tomorrow as I'm fished out this weekend!!! well nearly!
  20. Great reports Rob, well done on another successful trip.
  21. Decided it was that time of the year for the trip for some Sole. Friday night myself and son go to the offshore grounds( 100 metres off the beach!!!) Just as its getting dark anchor down and baits over. A steady run of fish, pout, poor cod, bream, smoothies and a selection of baby rays, thorny, blonde and small eyed. Sole started to show and so did the weed on the flood tide, at times having had bites you couldn't be sure if the fish was on with the amount of weed covering them!!! Not ideal but it kept us busy clearing and keeping baits fresh. 14 in total and 8 of them keepers. Thrown in a thorny of around 6lb going like mad on the light rod and tide. Grabbed a bit of shut eye over the slack while James had an understanding and a chance to practice his untangling in the dark over slack!! Only 2 rods being used when I got up bless him. When the ebb tide started the weed was worse and after an hour I moved in closer just on the off chance of less weed but nothing different, as it was starting to get light decided to start packing up and clean the weed off everything. On the way in a few drifts in the Swash to use up the worms and a good few plaice still about and 4 nice keepers also bass, wrasse and bream. Not a bad night/morning and had Sole for tea so all good. Now to catch up on sleep before it all kicks off tomorrow. Good luck everyone.
  22. Have a good day Dave.
