Lots of fishing boats out tonight. I've also been watching the last couple of nights drift netters working SE of IOW about 20 miles out causing havoc in the westbound shipping lane! I use Marinetraffic app aswell as vesselfinder, seems to be quicker and simple to get tracks etc, just click on target. Looking at amount of boats to the east no wounder the fish are struggling!!!

Steady on Tony!!!!

Happy Birthday Rich, all the spoils of your first married birthday! Chris

Bass pair trawling - are things happening?
Kingfisher 126 replied to Rob's topic in Conservation Issues
I've watching these and there is the same going on just off Brighton, Newhaven there are around 15 Belgium trawlers working a few miles off shore!! The ground must be wrecked!! excuse the pun! -
Happy Birthday Jon, must about time you jumped aboard again.

You kept that quiet Dave, have a good one, a beer waiting when I see you!!

Hi Charlie 26th April is a Sunday!!! No fun in that!!
-
I can't do either of the ideal dates only the bank holìday weekend so may have to just go for it and leave the late bank holiday as reserve date. The tide is making on the first weekend so the last day will be some quick drifting. I think the last weekend date in April was mentioned as a possible date for presentation dinner. Will see if crew is available. As always a comprimise! Chris

Happy Birthday Sandy, Hope Nigel spoiled you and it was wrapped in a ribbon!! Have a great day, Chris

Hi Greg They are on the large size so good for thick socks no problem on normal sizes. I personally just wear normal socks, found them too warm with thermal socks. I'm starting to wish I was on commission!!

Have a good un Kev, hope you get all you want!!
-
Hi Mal, I'm sure if you leave them in the shed again you may get squatters moving in! May be easier to spot them as only short boots! :) Hope you've had a good break mate, Happy New Year to all and hope you're looking after Martin and co!

Great report Lofty and well done on the effort you have put in. I don't know how you pull the reports together so well, maybe another refresher required! (please) I enjoy doing reports just get frustrated when I try and attach things they add on upside down etc!! Good luck for your fishing this year.

Hi Mike Grip is perfect and they dont get caught in the landing net mesh which one pair of fishing boots did and would sent me across the deck, not a pretty sight. They were donated to the wheelie bin!!

Hi Mike I have been invited a couple of times to join a team for comps, and personally as Nigel says it was so intense the enjoyment was lost for me. The club comps and the Poole Species Comp is about the limit for me, timewise and enjoyment. The banter we all have on a day out is part of it for me. There is an invite to come out anytime that may help you no problem, kettle is always warm! With all these offers I can see Frisky Fox up for sale!!

Just reordered a new pair of boots and these are at half price at the moment. I have used these for a few years now and always have a pair at home and a pair on the boat. really warm and waterproof. And they dont leave black scuff marks everywhere. Just in case anyone is looking for new boots. Hope the link works. http://www.cottontraders.com/faux-fur-lined-boots/invt/aq10502

Well done Lofty, hope it starts as well for you next year. Great effort throughout the year and cracking reports too. Good luck in 2015.

Well done both, yet again on comp day we did our bit for conservation!
-
We joined in both comps and blanked regarding cod! Lots of action but only with doggies, pout and bull huss the best huss around 10lb. Well done Nige and Martin a great result on a boarderline weatherwise day! Good well organised comp and venue by Steve Porter too.

I've got space if anyone is looking to crew, just be aware the last bit of the day may have to be fished over a pint in Cobbs bar if fishing is slow!! Can throw in a turkey curry as well. (if not can be used as ground bait) Crew now sorted.

Navionics offer of Garmin plotter charts - via Angling Trust
Kingfisher 126 replied to Stuie's topic in Boat Talk
I've just quickly tried the new chart on the boat this morning and there is so much more detail and they have added so many more wrecks and additional information. You would never be able to fish them all, will be interesting to see if they are there! Just need a poxy weather window to try it out.
