I have been in touch with Steve Porter skipper of "True Blue" who is heavily involved with the Catch and Release of Blue Fin Tuna fishery in Cornwall. The consultation paper is asking for opinions of the licensing of recreational fishing from a limited number of recreational boats for a fee. In addition to the Charters and Commercial that all have a share in the BFT quota that the UK has had since leaving the EU. The quota covers any dead fish from all forms of fishing. The C&R programme that has been going on for the last few years had several goals, one of those was to ascertain if the fish suffered mortality after or during capture. To date very few have been killed accidentally (approx 14 in two years) mostly through drowning being entangled in gear and coming in backwards, not getting sufficient air through their gills. Steve was keen for us to fill in the forms both individually and as a club. It is a weighty but readable document asking if you agree or not, if not why not. Having read it through as far as it goes in principle we would likely agree as long as they Restrict and License and Prosecute if people break the code of conduct. Most of which seems self policing amongst boats. The fee charge is mostly to cover admin, not Policing is my understanding. Most of the finer details are yet to be agreed and Government elections could cause delays in the readings and agreements to the consultation is also my understanding. Please check the link and download, fill in and return. https://consult.defra.gov.uk/recreational-aquaculture-and-migratory-team/bft-recreational-fishery/

Today or next week ? weather looks a bit pants.

Happy Birthday, good excuse to have a day off tomorrow.
-
Happy Birthday Mick, give it some stick. "It's a lyric from a Chas and Dave song" couldn't resist, sad I know.
-
Thanks for posting, a good read and Grant Jones is someone we should reach out to. Worth an introduction letter to explain who we are.
-
You already did that and we were very impressed with the fillet cut. Rob kindly left some in the cooler, as good a meat as I have eaten, melted in the mouth and very lean.
-
It is a good move to switch to LED, much brighter and less energy. I had mine done, new fittings and new connections because there is always a clean up needed on the old wiring. I don't think any other changes are needed.
-
BTW it has 6mm chain with it, 6mtrs approx
-
Sorry it is a 7.5kg Bruce, it yours to try and foc.
-
Dale you work to quickly I have one spare, well truth be known I have several spares of different patterns. If you don't receive or send it back for any reason get in touch.
-
BTW always use a fishermans trip when connecting your Anchor, that is cable tie through the chain on the upper shank and at the hook end connect the chain with a shackle so the anchor can be pulled out backwards when the cable ties break under pressure. When dropping your anchor over roughish ground don't be hasty, it is as common to trap the piled up chain as it is the anchor, so lay out your chain with a little bit of engine reverse.
-
These Anchors (Danforth) are commonly used by the Rag and Stick brigade or the boat rammers as otherwise known (controversial) I have one I took off a boat I bought, I replace it with a Lewmar Delta Anchor which I quite like. Some Bruce are copies and look a little distant from original design but they do work. It is either of the two mentioned with possibly a wire anchor for rocks that can be pulled straight if stuck in. It is all about the right weight for boat size, plenty of chain normally equivalent to weight of the anchor. I would guess about 6kg would be good.

Ah yes and dont forget the venison tasters from Dale that were superb, especially the fillet cut that melted in the mouth.😁
-
Well done Rob good report and good to get JOJO back on the water.
-
I wonder if Brad would make a comment on a recording device to buy or avoid. i.e Go Pro or alike.
-
Did you weigh the undulate and log it on your species hunt, it looks like a double.
-
That undulate has beautiful markings, good dangling.

Happy Birthday Alun, assume your away having a nice time.
