  1. We had a similar number a few years ago, somewhat splintered now and looking to build.
  2. That's a weighty specimen did you weigh it?
  3. Understand your views, however the pressure of getting everyone on one day has worn out volunteers in the past. Lets see who will enter, a show of hands here on this thread would give us something to build on. Never say never is my attitude if something builds it can only be a good thing for the club.
  4. Ok so here's some thoughts on Junior Comps for the Summer Holiday period fished from July to end of August. We call it an invitation to Juniors most likely with family connections with an Adult in attendance not necessarily a member but on a members boat. 1. Have a small £5.00 entry to buy a prices or prices. 2. Run it for the whole period with biggest fish wins initially. Develop it if we get good entry levels. Register your fishing and send in the weight and a photo. 3. Have a thread running with fish caught so far for a target. 4. Hopefully with a presentation at the end of it at the club meeting. Please add your thoughts and develop the idea to a workable low maintenance event to make some memories with Grand children, your own kids, nieces and nephews and so on. Without the hassle of one date, weekend or week day and certainly no weather cancellations.
  5. Neil We would love to see a return of Junior comps, any ideas you might have are welcome.

    I've joined!

Hi Pete we did not get a chance to speak, I was on the end of the line on the stage, Mal. As your safety officer in the club feel free to ask away. We use vhf channel 6 and 65 NCI for radio checks and reports on weather and tides etc. Our most dangerous past time except staying on board is anchoring and there is a lot to it when doing it safely. Beware. Tripping the anchor the fishermans way with cable ties is very important when near rough ground. I would suggest your first few times will be best done over clean sand before you anchor rocky ground. Please post and ask questions don't guess when you have a wealth of knowledge to tap into. cheers and go make some very happy memories. BTW always stay with the boat and wear your Lifejacket.
  7. It was new to me when I saw it late. Still rare.
  8. That's a rare species these days, ask anyone specifically fishing for one in a comp. Well done.
  9. A slippery Eel Blake one for dad to remove.
  10. Wooden spoon likely for my team, Italy look really good and a contender, long awaited.
  11. Another one, give us all a chance. Well done.
  12. Cup of tea in the wheelhouse looks like a good idea.
  13. Belated birthday wishes Brian. Here's hoping for a better year.👍
  14. Happy belated birthday Pete

    Buoys.

Whelk pots or dare I say it nets for rays is a possibility.
  19. Have a nice day Alan and Happy birthday.
  20. My brother could not make the trip, so I did not return a catch report. I did have a small 2lb bass whilst sitting at anchor. Also, happy to report a good-sized blonde ray up our end of the bay which is nice to see.
  21. Looking at the weather this morning I have no reason to Cancel, the weather is looking stable and slightly improving on Monday so not closing in or a small window. Please take part at your own discretion and do not put yourself at any risk or outside your comfort zone. I will enter M.Thomas and T .Thomas
  22. Looking at the very changeable weather I am concerned by the SE direction on Sunday which turns the Swash into a nasty washing machine, Saturday things have improved however the sea conditions are likely to be lively from the preceding weather. I am veering towards setting another date so our members are safe and not likely to be uncomfortable in small boats. Of course non competition trips should go ahead at the skippers discretion. Do you all agree?
  23. We the committee are looking into trying something different next year that will alleviate these weather interruptions and move away from specific dates for some comps. Chris Witheford is looking into all the variants and possible issues this might create. Hopefully the membership will accept the proposals for a smooth transition to a more inclusive and least disrupted yearly account of best fish results.
  24. Currently Weather watching very changeable over the last few days, weather fronts moving fast dropping vast amounts of rain. Saturday and Sunday are not looking good this morning, hopefully it might improve. Keep watching. Please put your names down to gauge who would like to take part.
  25. Happy birthday Captain.🎂
