I have heard that the owner of Manta Ray Alan Tompsett former member and very well known participant in the fishing community has passed away, our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Mackerel not sustainable anymore
Mal Thomas replied to Maverick Martin's topic in Conservation Issues
All common sense really, the world does not work together on reducing or overfished common resources. -
Glad to help if you don’t need my compacts return to suit you.

This is a bit of a heavy read and after you wade through it you will see that notice was taken from the sit down we had with the representatives, howver things look to be a long way off from being activated. Enjoy. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1149252/Channel_Demersal_NQS_FMP_stakeholder_engagement_feedback_document_2023.pdf Channel_Demersal_NQS_FMP_stakeholder_engagement_feedback_document_2023.pdf

This meeting was our long standing Chairmans last as he handed over the reigns to me. He was applauded several times through his emotional farewell to the Chair but not the club, we gave him a half case of White wine to fill the engraved goblets he received at the Dinner dance along with some flowers for Lorraine. A card was also signed by many members and handed over. CW organised that and many other trips to engravers and Trophy cabinets, so a big thanks to Chris for all the work no one sees. The meeting went well and all committee members other than Chairman stood for re election. The meeting ended with probably one of the best speakers that entertained and bought tackle goodies that were at cost and keenly snapped up by the members. Stu is welcome back and hopefully he will help us with the you tube channel we are embarking on. He has a very large following and often goes on trips with Wayne (Shore hunter I think) on you tube. A very good watch, I myself watch them in Norway and on Local beaches. They are very familiar with all our local waters. Thanks to Jerry and Dog fish Dave for all their time and efforts organising the speaker and driving from Hythe. We had members travelling from far afield to attend this meeting, Gummage also took the time to come and visit even after a dunking at the slipway and not wearing his own clothes, now if that's not commitment what is. Everyone was there till late and the room had a real buzz, long may it continue.

Happy birthday John hope you enjoyed the speaker last night.

Tony you have done a Sterling job over the years and you are welcome on Y knot any time. I hope we can keep the Club on a positive trend for the next 13 years.

Well done.

I wonder if Jim can get you to blow out the candles, have a good day and an even better retirement touring.

Lets hope some ancient buried nasty infectious bacteria has not entered the water course. -

Sounds horrific -
Seems about right for the age, when you have the new ones give the metal stays a spray with WD 40 or equivalent to stop them rusting if you often leave them open. They may also be beaded externally and new profiles are more secure and beaded on the inside.

The radius in the corner of these windows is the structural support, some newer windows hide it in the corner profile. What wrong with those BTW.
-
Rob are they GF and FF windows ? If so these are the more challenging to the surveyors measuring and the fitters, they must have reinforcing columns usually metal poles in the corners for structural support. The heads of the GF are also challenging to waterproof if they have masonry above. Silicon is not the answer.

Apparently they took the tail as well. Massive appeal on local TV to return the head for examination and a promise to return it afterwards.
-
Hacked the head off only

I wonder if it's full of plastic ?

If that is your budget and size they are a decent buy, we had great service when we had a small problem. Up against my other 4 sets of binoculars the optics are very reasonable. The 42's are the more expensive part of the market in the quality optics. See some photos sent on SMS, just done a field test to a tree 100yrds away and the Avalon image was very decent, up against my 10.5 x 42 just not as magnified.

I decided to make life a little easier on Y knot. I am having a bait well pump and water feed fitted to the existing tank built in but never connected. I have also had a Trumpet horn fitted to warn the SUP boarders I am coming through. Old horn was not loud enough, just a squeak if lucky. Also a switch in the cabin for my spot light on the front rail so I have control from the cabin rather than just plug and play up front. A new skin fitting and seacock for the new water fill arrangement. Engine serviced and back in the water next week is the plan. Come on ! I am getting cabin fever. Besides being so far behind Big Col, he is nearly over the horizon with species count.

8x42 is the favourite in the bird watching community.
