Two friends who I had promised a trip for ages were both free for a last minute trip. Bait was needed, and it was just like old times, within half an hour we had enough Mackerel for the day. Off to the SW Banks to look for a Tope or two, when we got there I decided to anchor rather than drift. Wrong, although the tide had been ebbing for over 2 hrs it was totally dormant, we were swinging in all directions, so a drift was set, after a while we did manage 4 small pack Tope, but all small and disappointing. Suddenly the tide was running at 2.5-3knots π€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈThe tides out of Poole I find impossible sometimes. So we headed in to get away from a fierce tide, after losing a good Ray in the tide we finally bought 4 to the boat, best weighing 15lbs 5oz which took over 30mins to get to the boat!!!!!!! in 2knots of tide. The boys enjoyed the day, stunning weather, a few better fish and a few Mackerel for tea.

Ok guys, its been bought to my attention that the trophy for this Spring Species Comp has individual angler written on it, NOT boat. So a double apology!!! Lets hope we get a few more entries as the weather isnt looking too bad for our Individual Species Comp this weekend!!!! Again apologise
-
Sorry for the confusion , no, its boat species comp.
-
Its as per usual, members on your boat fishing for as many different species as can be caught, so if James is a non member get him signed up! Otherwise just the fish you catch count! Have a great day, hopefully see you out there.

Catch wise Angling Project 2023-24

I have filled in the form asking to find out more with distance from the coast being a possible concern -
Hi Dale, Good to meet you at the meeting, chatted keepering briefly. I have had Navionics on my phone and Ipad for a few years and it is a real game changer. I have just last week managed to download Navionics onto my Simrad plotter on the boat, but it has taken me a long time, however i am a techy dinasoar!!!! All the above posts are great advice, hopefully see you out on the water when the weather decides to sort itself out. Jerry

jerry.shutter replied to Mal Thomas's topic in Conservation Issues
As you say Mal, heavy reading but interesting. It will be interesting to see how long, and if any, suggested ideas from commercial and recreational sector are enforced or put into place. -
100% agree, well done Tony, I hope youβve got some wine left! I hope we still see you at the meetings ππππ
