  1. Nothing caught last weekend and I think Steve Porter went from Poole (?) and a boat fished round to Dancing Ledge with nothing from Salterns.

    Bfm

Nice one Adam You know Jim better than I do, but the few times I have met him show he is just a normal guy who likes a spot of fishing. I normally only tend to bump into him during busy spells on boat show pontoons so never get to organising anything or discuss "stuff" properly, but he is certainly a decent chap and I think his reply states that His job is like anyone else's, good days and bad days and now Warners have taken over the publishing side you will see BFM will evolve with good and bad bits too. The mag has gone rom something that Jim created and ran and it has now outgrown those shoes and is moving into the big league. The thought of featuring Mad Mike scares me though. We may need to wheel him in gagged, bound and in a straight jacket otherwise we will have to wheel Jim out... ....gagged, bound and in a straight jacket! Tom PS: Something that I am fairly convinced about though is that in the not to dim distant future, most of the paper publications will be all but obselete and the web based magazines (we are one of them) will take over almost completely. Web based mags are ever changing, on the pulse, full of people who genuinely no each other and have very low overheads. The audience is also enormous with pages of the "Web Mag" being flipped through time and time again, by a global readership. Web mags can make a considerable income too. Advertising space is prime, ecommerce can play a big roll and income can be generated by registration / subscription fees and so long as the content backs it up, the readers will pay a small but fair fee. Wait and see, I reckon within 10 years far more intenet mags of all genres will begin to appear. Just some thoughts which I would imagine the likes of Jim W and Mel R are more than aware of. Tom
  3. Check the tides Mark. I haven't, but you'll have more fun and save on fuel if you go across on the flood and come back on the ebb. Tide up your chuff will give you a couple more knots for the same revs.
  4. Arr Duncan, the font of all knowledge when it comes to anything elderly or out of date! Knows nothing about this newfangled modern stuff though!

    Anchor Trip

The trip should be fitted as far down the shaft of the anchor as possible and usually just "behind" the flukes. You need to be able to pull the anchor out backwards. If the trip is set infront of the flukes it won't work so efficiently. Tom

    Anchor Trip

I don't know about on the wagon, but don't advise drinking these babies "on the boat". A couple the night before is good for a giggle though.... Tom

    Anchor Trip

Oh Duncan I am sure I will have the opportunity of introducing you to the delights of a Wicked Vimto over next week. A delicious, "barely" alcoholic drink first introduced to me on the island last Summer. I cannot guarantee it will leave you feeling fresh as a daisy the following morning, but it will leave me with better odds on beating you to the turbot. Tom PS: How do these threads manage to change direction quite so rapidly?

    Anchor Trip

Bl@@dy Mudhopper!!!!! Grrrrr! Not happy with certain members of this forum for this one. I have a feeling that this will keep rearing it's head for a long time to come!
  9. UNDER OFFER Well, sale is on hold subject to viewing this weekend by a club member to whom I have offered first refusal. I hope it will make him the perfect run around this Summer until he is ready for the next step up. Another reason why I love this forum so much! Tom
  10. The mullet are now schooling properly in the marina. None of the really big ones yet, but from a couple of pounds up to about 4lb. They do look a bit lethargic still with only one or two that seem to be actively feeding, bt really pleased to see them cruising under nearly every boat. The best bit is BASS!!! In a short walk along the pontoons I counted several Bass handing in the water. Again they are small;er schoolies in the up to 2lb bracket and again they are looking a little dazed, but they are back! Now where is my pot man with his supply of live prawns!!!! Tom

    Anchor Trip

Reg If you have a stern cleat that stands proud of the gunnel then it is fine to just lift the taught anchor rope over it to hold the rope clear of the prop, but never tie off to it just in case the anchor is stuck completely. If it is stuck the boat will swing round stern to the tide and potentially pull the transom under. If t is just lifted over the cleat then it can be simply lifted off again if it is stuck. Just my humble opinion. Tom

    Virus

Thanks Paul! There are some proper plonkers out there. Haven't they got anything better to do! Tom
  13. Thanks Paul I thought I had decent AV software on the work PC as it sometimes launches into a virus check, but I tried to find it this afternoon and it appears to have vanished. Don't think this is virus related, more me trying to clean up my computer and "losing it somewhere". We'll try tomorrow! Tom

    Virus

I could do with some advise on how to fix my PC at work rather than an explanation as to what has happened...... Not grumpy Paul, but I do need to clean the work computer as a priority. Tom
  15. Exactly the same for me, but I think my work PC is buggered for use with PBSBAC. It doesn't "seem" to have effected any other part of my PC, just access to here. Home PC caught it and chucked it out and all seems well here, but was silly enough to open the email believing that webmaster@pbsbac.co.uk was legit! Tom
  16. And finally: I have now doscovered he isn't the first owner, but did by through a dealer. He has NEVER used the boat. It also looks like the trailer has never seen salt water and is so close to mint. 1) Very small scratch to stem 2) Small fingernail sized gel repair to starboard bow 3) You have to look for them but the engine cowling has a couple of very minor scratches. This boat seems A1+++ for the year. Tom
  17. Some pics I just took....
