Wheel bearing......again! Needs some welding done and maybe a few more bits and pieces! Bloody thing does my head in. The wheel bearing is the second one to go in the last month (same wheel) so whether there is a bad batch i dont know but all i know is it is making some serious noise and the grease is bubbling away like a bugger when i took the hub off. Something is not right with it anyway ! No worries about crew mate, ill have a word with my nieghbour and see if he fancies a trip out on his boat and if he does then ill let you know and well buddy you. If i dont get out then good luck and hope you haul a few biggies! Dom

Paul, i could be tempted mate, i need to speak with the Mrs first to see if anythings planned but if not then i might be able to crew for you. I would buddy but our trailors fu**ed at the mo so cant trail the boat anywhere.....well pi$$ed off with it as we seem to get continual problems with it ! I think we need a new one! Ill text you and let you know tonight mate. What time you thinking of gtting out and returning though? Dom

Dom

Hi mate, Yeah it must of defo been a small eyed then mate, as per my brothers post, we hav had loads of rays from there and i dont know anyone who has had a blonde from there or even heard of a blonde from there! Mate a 5lb small eyed is better than a 5lb blonde anyway. Re tides check the following: http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EasyTide/EasyT...dictionLength=7 This is a tide chart for christchurch entrance it gives you high and low tide, and how big the tides are, fishing the flood tide is when the tide is on its way up and fishing the ebb is when the tides going out. The tides differ throughout teh month, a neap tide is a smaller tide, one where the tides doesnt go out as far and doesnt come in as far, however a spring tide are big tides where the tides come in a long way and go out a long way aswell and the tides are faster, so a small tide fishing the flood is the best time for them.......if this makes any sense at all cos im even getting confused writing this junk !
-
Nice one Daz, your gettin a few arent ya mate! Yeah i agree with Paul it was probably a small eyed ray or if was covered in little black spots then it was a spotted ray, either way its a nice fish. I always find that the smaller tides and fishing the flood is always better there. We have to get out and you guys can buddy us on a night trip congering. Lets arrange a trip next week if you fancy it, speak with Corky and if weather and tides are ok we shall get out and haul! Dom

Well looks like im going barbel fishing as no-one else is about . If i had more experience of fishing into darkness then i would go on my own but im not confident enough to without a buddy boat so maybe next time....... If anyone gets this later and fancies going out until about 1am the give me a bell on 07922 712260. Dom

Guys i fancy a crack at the conger tonight, big tides and good tide times for an evening launch and an early morning (1ish) return, anyone else fancy buddying.... It no other boats decide to go then ill give it a miss as dont fancy it on my own so ill go for an evening Barbel fishing down the river instead but would prefer a few big conger off the ledge. Dom

That might not be a bad thing Jack as if you lock up too tight on any reel you could get cut off if you hook a large fish that moves off quickly, maybe best to use your thumb as extra strength by just holding the spool as you pump your fish or weight off the bottom, then its just a matter of reeling in the slackened line, unless its comopletely shot then its probably best to get a new reel . Tomo you have a PM, I know its a bit late but one for the future. Dom

Met my old man at his house at 4am......went to bed at 1am so a little bleery eyed.....and hitched up the boat in the pitch darkness, fuelled up at the 24hour garage and loaded the food bag with sausage rolls and ready made sarnies...good times! Got to the slip and was still pitch black so readied the boat and got rods set up and parked teh motor in the top secret free spot! Launched about 5am with plenty of water and light enough to get straight out to the macky mark, not so easy to cath this time but after 45mins i had about 30 macky in the tub! Off to x-ray where we clipped upto a buoy in mirror seas, it was bloody lovely and was sat in shorts and t-shirt by only 7am. Bites were hard to come by and the odd doggy kept us occupied for the first hour until one of my rods signalled a better bite, felling for the fish i hit it hard and it hit hard back and took line from the off, i was only on light gear, 8' long 12lb test boat rods coupled with small reels and fine braid, these fish fight well hard on this sporting gear and when only using 6-8oz of lead to hold bottom it was nice to battle these lovely fish, after a 15-20minute scrap a lovely small eyed ray of just under 8lb comes aboard and after pics and making sure she was fine, she went back to fight another day. Half hour passed and the odd doggy and again im in, this time after a good fight up pops a spotted ray at few ounces over 4lb, lovely looking fish and imaculate condition, then its the old mans turn, he is on slightly heavier gear and gets a nice 8lb 10oz smalleyed onboard, back she goes and then im in again, 10 minutes later the biggest of the day comes up and at 9lb 6oz another small eyed is on the boat, pictured and released and it dies off for an hour and then 2 more small eyeds make an appearance, 1 each for me and my dad again at just over 8lb a piece, the tide turns and the fishing dies again. We decide to head for home at about 10:30 to get in the queue to get on the slip and get the boat out. What a greta mornings fishing and was home by 12. we finished with 6a rays upto 9lb 6oz and plenty of macky, about 10 dogs, and the odd small bream on baited feathers. Now i want to get out for a few congers one evening this week, anyone fancy it? Dom

-
Im out early saturday morning for a bash at the bass and/or rays so if anyones about give us a shout. Launching from Mudeford and the tides are good for a first light launch and a late morning return. Dan ive tried calling you all day but your phone not work, give me a buzz later and let me know if your up for it? Dom

Mate, the weather was choppy as hell on friday, braver man than me but if you kept your sea legs in that then you should be good in anything. Glad you caught your first Ray, be it a little one. Now youve caught one you should get a few more onboard, like Dan (Gnasher) said it fishes better when there isnt much movement on the water and its calm. The same methods can be deployed for fishing for the conger....(PM to come). Well done and good luck next time. Dom

I want some of this blonde action! Any chance of a PM with the numbers for these blondes...... Dom

Daz, you shouldnt be in the cuddy, you should be out on deck haulin! I found that the only time i was sick was after a night on the razz .....a few too many Stella's! Not no more though if i know im out the following day i wont touch a drop and i feel fine the whole day. Corky feel free to buddy me and Dan on our boat (Dat Dam Boat), we go out of xchurch and we have a few marks up our sleeve which will help you out. Happy chundering fella's! Dom

Hi guys, any help would be gratefully received here as i have no idea whats wrong with it! The VHF on our boat is not working, we have full power to it, we can hear people on it, when i key up on it-the light comes on on the screen, but no-one can hear me. Paul D has had a look at it (cheers Paul) and we were hoping it was OK but unfortunately it is still not working, any ideas on what might be wrong with it? Dom

We were well chuffed with our first night trip, apart from the hic-ups which Dan's already wrote about it was brilliant, our buddy boats first night trip out aswell. Was nice to catch a few good fish but shame about the lack of bait....thank god for the bonus pout Dan caught, shall be trying to catch a few of them for bait next time as i only used it for about 15mins on one rod and caught the largst conger, 2 of them fell to squid and only 1 conger fell to mackerel! Next time more bait will be taken with us as the macky were well hard to find. Roll on next time! Dom
