  1. Charlie, I doubt there are many as perfect as you! I couldn't have hoped to have made a minor (crew-assisted) launching screwup in a better staffed marina!
  2. I have heard stories from more than one person working in the marine trade, that they get a lot of work from Marinas to fix stuff that the Marina has done 'before the owner notices'...
  3. That's a crackin' photo Nige
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. I was reading an article in a Land Rover mag last night- your issue could be ethanol? The article was saying that Petrol can now have up to 5% ethanol in it, and if left undisturbed for long periods of time it can seperate from/react with the petrol leaving fuel contaminated with water and acid. Water causing starting/running problems and the acid eating fuel lines and gaskets. Apparently 'cheap' petrol stations (there's no such thing!) such as supermarkets, are worse for high %'s of ethanol. More doom and gloom, sorry.
  6. Arrgghh, images flashing too quick, going to give me nightmares!
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. Congratulations to James on his first Ray! And for getting a deserved prize after persevering when under the weather. I can fully sympathise with James' reaction to those conditions... at least Sam, my 8 year old son has better sea-legs than me!
  9. I've only just managed to catch up... Well done everyone who entered, even more well done to those who managed to catch a 50% (or greater) fish in less than ideal conditions and thanks to everyone who came and supported the weigh-in and prizegiving!
  10. He was a family friend? What did you do?
  11. You could get shear-nuts for the bracket fixings? Shear nuts
  12. Is it wrong for me to be happy that today's weather has been as sh1t3 as the forecast?
  13. Uninstall, reinstall, updates etc... Back now. Retro- that's me! I think issue is a combination of McAfee (it came with the laptp and I still have time left on the subscription) and Google Chrome, which installed itself without me having any say in the matter and 'stole/screwed' various settings... #bloodylovecomputersdon'twealmostasmuchastheweather
  14. I may be in the minority using IE9 (not very fashionable) but lately the club site either won't open or keeps hanging. I'm having to use Google Chrome to make this post! Is anyone else having the same thing?
  15. In recent weeks, there have been a number of stories concerning the sharks caught in UK waters. A Thresher ended up on a fishmongers table in Cardiff- it was caught by a Cornish trawler. I think this is pretty shameful in this day and age: Thresher on the slab In a probable attempt to redress the balance and reputation of Fishermen/Anglers of the region, another Thresher was released by a Cornish charter boat out of Looe. This is more what we would expect to hear: Thresher caught and released Another, more recent story, of a Porbeagle was shamelessly killed in the Hebrides. What a hero The Sky News story in particular demonstrates the general ignorance prevalent with regards to sharks. Despite many attempts by various bodies to portray Sharks as

  17. A bit more background on why we need to sign again: New petition
  18. Interesting article Brian. Many people have already questioned whether the firms who build these installations are interested in saving the planet, or are simply interested in collecting government money. If they keep building, we'll know the answer. And if they don't, we'll still know the answer! What needs to be remembered though, is that the planet still needs saving...
  19. *Bump* Josie has also suffered from the shocking weather that we've had up until this point, as it has meant that there haven't been a lot of sea anglers out and about for her to stop and ask a few questions to! So she has asked me to post a reminder that you can complete the Survey(s) online... here!
  20. Some more wind-farm-related news: Cut in subsidies How it might look...
  21. A little more light (and some might say depressing) reading: Fish on the slide Worries about Scottish Mackerel
  22. The Common Fisheries Policy is desperately in need of change. It encourages fishing practices which damage the marine environment and devastate fish populations. After a lot of campaigning by organisations such as Hugh F-W's Fish Fight, and individuals such as Maria Damanaki, change is starting to happen. I'll try and put up some relevant information over the coming weeks and months (and, knowing how politicians work, this will probably become years). June 2012
