  1. Here's a slightly more easily-digestible version, from our own Government. Doesn't make it any easier to swallow though... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bass-fishing-catch-limits-closures-and-minimum-size Please consider writing to your local and national elected representatives, as described in the above posts. More on that in this thread: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/ipb/topic/17852-bass-latest-angling-trust-release-brussels-westminster/
  2. Rob used to use an old-style one to power a bait pump, but I'm not sure if these are set up for using as a continual power source rather than for a short, sharp burst of power?
  3. A bit more in an article in the Echo: http://m.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/14221636.Whole_of_Poole_Harbour_to_be_given_protected_status/ And on the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35363850
  4. There's also the question about what happens if you catch a tagged Bass. Well the answer from CEFAS is: Subject: Tagged Sea Bass catches during C&R restrictions Dear Leon, Many apologies for not getting back to you before Christmas regarding catches of tagged sea bass during the new C&R restrictions. After speaking directly to my colleagues at the MMO I can confirm that any Cefas / IFREMER electronically tagged sea bass our exempt from the C&R regulations and anglers will still be allowed to return electronically tagged fish (fish & tag), to Cefas directly for reward. MMO colleagues are now kindly spreading the word to their coastal officers in relation to this, but If you are able to create further awareness too your end it would be hugely appreciated. I attach here the bass reward poster with our contact details on what to do if a tagged fish is caught, together with the link to our C-Bass Blog, If you have any further queries then please don’t hesitate to get in touch, Kindest regards as always Vicky Victoria Bendall Fish Ecology Team Leader, Cefas C-BASS_reward_poster_Nov14_v4.pdf
  5. Agreed Allan, we need to do all we can to raise the profile of this issue- both of the situation with Bass, and how these recent measures do little to help the situation (if not make it worse). AT have been pushing this Petition for the last few days, as have other prominent anglers and Conservationists. Other prominent Anglers are blaming this on those prominent anglers and Conservationists, which isn't very helpful! Admin- can this be pinned please and/or a link to the petition be but on the front page? Again, agreed- Ministers and MP's need to be contacted again to keep them on their toes. But again, not helpful are anglers being abusive to George Eustice via (anti)social media... DEFRA have released this: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-commercial-and-recreational-fishing-restrictions-for-bass-in-2016 Thanks all for spreading the word on these topics. Once I've paid for Christmas I need to get my laptop fixed- before it gets thrown through a closed window!
  6. The petition has reached the magic 10,000 mark, but if we can keep spreading the word and get it to 100,000, that would be even better. Get all of your non-angling friends, family and workmates to fill it in (bribe them with tea and biscuits or something )
  7. Nice one Sam Either at the next Club meeting, or put 'em through the letter box the next time you or Mum & Dad are visiting Dan?

  20. Thanks for posting this Coddy. Members, please consider going by the 'Size of Sexual Maturity' when deciding whether to keep fish, rather than just the legal minimum size. As we can see from the table above, and as has been campaigned against for Bass for a number of years, the MRCS (previously known as MLS) for many species is actually smaller than the size of sexual maturity- i.e. fish of many species are being landed which have not yet had the chance to breed. This obviously has a negative effect on fish populations. By releasing fish which are between the MRCS and the size of sexual maturity, you are doing your part (please try not to think about what everyone else is doing ) to help maintain healthy populations of breeding-size fish.
  21. Hi All Please take a look at the attached, and consider getting involved! http://www.sharktrust.org/en/anglers_recording_project

  23. Some pics in my album: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/ipb/gallery/album/108-charlie-a/ Oli- can we do something to bring uploading photos into posts into the 21st Century? All this "upload it to somewhere else and then copy the url and paste it like this..." business is a right PITA!
