  1. What time is "launch time" ? Rich, your post implies 6-30 AM ( the early bird catches the worm .... ).
  2. Adam, The people they use are probably exactly the same as the ones under www.boatinsure.co.uk - ( Amlin - syndicate 2001 at Lloyds ). You can get it all done online and be insured immediately. Also you can get a quote online, there and then. All the docs are downloadable - works very well. I also put in what I presume you would be insuring :- Cabin Cruiser ( up to 30 knots )

    second battery

Kam, Way to fast for me, I was just checking a search on battery would do the job !! Here
  5. Kam, The swinging from side to side is possibly due to too much weight at the back of the trailer. re: bearings - I need to inspect mine before the Burnham trip ( I knew there was something I had forgotten ) but at least I have no pesky brake pads to worry about

    Drag Weight?

Adam, Mark A ( Enticer ) told me he had a number of sash window weights. Promised me one. So you could try him. ( and if you get one could you get me one while your at it please ). Even so, for drifting on Sunday I have one of those fold up speedboat anchors. This will slow my drift suifficiently I suspect ( as the tide is so small ).
  7. Charlie, Yes definitely have some older ones. Rich, I will get that added. How big was the bass ?
  8. Saturday night have a friend's 40th birthday party to go to. 4 AM Sunday morning have to drop Elaine off at school for her trip to Italy ( alright for some eh ! ). So I could be up bright and early ( although knackered ! ) to go to the Shambles on Sunday. Happy to take Neo, but will need someone to crew. Any offers ?

    Drag Weight?

I don't think you will be having any problems from me then
  10. BB, I was pondering over going to Weymouth but the size of the tides put me off. Are you going to make me regret this I wonder

    river fishing

Sam, No licence required in Scotland ( I think ). A licence for use in England and Wales ( assuming non-migratory fish - ie. Not Salmon and Sea Trout ) will cost you a princely sum of
  12. Foul ground is rough ground where you could get your anchor stuck. Spoil ground is where dredged material is dumped. I think !
  13. Trophy winners ( 2004 only at the moment ) can be found at the following page :- Trophies
  14. Kam, Go for it. I had never done any drift fishing first time I went and all I knew was that you needed a lump of lead / old fold up anchor to slow the drift down. My daughter crewed for me and we still managed to catch a plaice. ( albeit of miniscule size ). I learnt a lot that first trip and now know I need longer leader / slower drift etc. Second time I went, managed to catch a plaice whilst everyone else was Bass fishing. At slack water you can feather up launce, so bring some hokeyes as launce can be had on these ( good for bait ). Can get a little hairy when the tide is running hard - just reel up before you run off the end of the bank ( roughens up at the edges of the bank ) but on the bank I had no trouble in the Orkney, so Sweet Honey will be fine.

    weather forecast

Jack, That is actually quite an important point. It is tempting ( and I think we have all been tempted ) to do exactly that ( ie. Pick the best day forecast ). However, could be costly if the worst forecast occurs

    MAYDAY Form

Adam, Call me picky but it is spelt PROCEDURE

    weather forecast

Now there is a question. There used to be a far better site which has now unfortunately been taken over. I find the following useful Windguru they have "Poole Harbour" as a selection which seems pretty reliable for the bay.
  18. Warm Kam. The ones I am looking at are exactly the same but slightly higher back ( although still not having as much side support as the warrior bucket seats.)
  19. However, found out 17th April is the day after my friend's wedding ( the one whose stag night I am missing to go to Burnham ! ). Therefore, will be provisionally going, dependant upon time of return from Portsmouth. ( although Shambles trip is that good, I can always sleep for a few drifts )
  20. Happy Birthday Dean. Did you get some good fishing videos ?
  21. Adam, Count Neo in. I will be needing crew I suspect. ( Planning on having an "advanced reccy" over the easter break ) Barry, Spot on re: slip.
  22. Found one of the smaller wrecks but by then the tide was flowing too fast to fish it, so opted to go for a ray mark. Still, I was much impressed with the speed of James's boat and the way Blue Warrior was cuttng through the water. Next time - Shambles it is.
  23. Well, I might have caught one of those Pollack had I remembered to take the hook protector off my Stormy I am sure we would have got into some eels had we not been moved off. I told James he should have told the Range Boat "DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO ..... ".
  24. Dan, That is the Portland Race. Fished it with Adam and Bob ( in BW ) and Rich in Neo. It was well wicked !! My memory of the day was powering away from the race and looking down into Blue Warrior oh and the look on Rich's face when I pulled the bung out the boat after taking a huge wave over the side Good bass fishing although hard to fish - I got the hang of it in the last drift.

    Bass Flies

As shown to some others at the Dinner Dance, I bought some flies from a seller on E-Bay. They are hand tied and are very well made. Will see if they catch fish. The seller is very helpful and reliably delivered. Bass Flies PS: I wont describe what Adam and James thought I was showing them at first !
