  1. Great start Al and good to see the Bass are about.
  2. Put down Neo + another ( I will then get crew hunting ). I have reliable reports from the east of good catches of Smoothhounds + Tope. However, Bream comp is postponed and I think the 1st June is pencilled in as the next date ? Utopia on the Saturday and Bream Comp on the Sunday ?

    She's Back!!!

Looking good and Bob looks dead chuffed in that photo.
  4. Had an early start to Friday and headed for Langstone for a wrecking trip aboard Valkyrie. Fishing was slow but managed to Had an early start to Friday and headed for Langstone for a wrecking trip aboard Valkyrie. Fishing was slow but managed to lose 2 fish before catching 2 pollock and a pout. ( There were some good sized pollock coming onboard off the last wreck we drifted. ) . Had trouble catching Pollock but managed the only cod caught with one of around 14lb so well pleased with that. Conditions were superb and can well recommend the boat and skipper - Glen Caines ( it the same type as Fred's Crimson Tide ) On another note :- The cost of fuel for these long wrecking trips must be making them almost unviable at current prices. The fuel bill for the one trip was around
  5. Went out on a wrecking trip today and calm mid channel as well. Weather forecast does look a bit grim for Sunday though ( 5 - 6 ft swell forecast on Magic Seaweed as well ), so not sure I fancy fishing in lumpy conditions to be honest.
  6. Was just looking at that myself as well - looks a bit grim at the moment. Going wrecking tomorrow, so presumably will be clearer as to what the forecast holds by end of Friday.
  7. Better photoalbum software means we would have to pay for it. As in most things in life you get what you pay for
  8. Easiest way is to attach the file. Second way is to post the image on the Photo Album ( using the photo gallery button at the top of the page ) then right click the photo you want to refer to and get the URL. Then paste the URL between and IMG tag ( using the IMG button ). Grab me a t a club meeting and I will show you how to do this ( assuming Bob F has his laptop )
  9. What a fantastic day and a superb report. I must persuade my friend in Portsmouth to take me out for a spot of plaice fishing, although I suspect he may struggle to have that sort of success
  10. Myself and Paul Rowcliffe on Neo
  11. Alan, Lovely first ray for Marsel 2. I always think the Undulate Rays are one of the better looking rays. As Charlie says an Undulate of that size is a good fish
  12. Possibly Bob F ? What is the problem with the radio then Terry ? No NASA shed here but might be able to help.
  13. We arrived at the ledge on Fugazi about the time the fish tap was turned off ! First rod down and I missed a good bream bite and then nothing for next 3 hrs Gordon decided on a move to Southbourne Rough ( plenty of bream there but nothing huge ). Naturally as we set off for Southbourne Rough the boat alongside us hooked into a good bream - typical ! Lovely day to be afloat though and good fun fishing on Fugazi. Not sure if I will be fishing tomorrow as still looking for crew, so might take a rest.
  14. I am looking to take Neo out for a spot of Smoothhound fishing in the Solent on Sunday. No crew at the moment. Therefore, if anyone fancies crewing call me on 07887 875964 and I am looking to launch from Lymington - not necessarily an early start.
  15. Dan, I am in two minds at the moment. Do I head west and launch from Lymington after smuts or do I launch from Christchurch for bream. Decisions, decisions PS: Also have pass for Sunday so will probably go for smuts then.

    Reminder

A gentle reminder ..... If you want your fish / catch reports to be entered for the Fish of the Month or Biggest / Best etc. then the MUST either be entered using the catch reports form on the website or phoned through to Adam F. Including details in a general catch report is not sufficient as I have not the time to trawl through all the reports. Only 3 fish recorded so far this month ....

  18. I now have an image of Alfresco steaming off to Cape Verde next
  19. Some nice bream there. Last year had the same effect with groundbaiting ( as in the boats downtide of us started catching ). Also recall sitting watching Tomo on Just Purfick catching bream after bream when he swung over our groundbait as the tide turned - oh how we laughed

I am sure you will be increasing those PBs this season. Now I realise where the username "gas" comes from

    Alderney

It was a fun weekend - beats doing the gardening !! Watching Alun speed off on the "Drifter" was amusing Most enjoyable despite our lack of flatties and it was fun to test out the 8ft solid C rod on a wreck pollack. ( It is much better suited to this style of fishing than to pulling Eels out of wrecks ). Thanks to Neal for taking me over and also I would like to thank Mark from Alderney Angling for all his help and advice plus lending us a car as well and the breakfast his wife made was fantastic. I can fully recommend Alderney Angling for Bed and Breakfast. Now working on going back ASAP to have a go at the Bass.
  22. I am hoping that any turbot I hook into is going to be an unlucky one
  23. Best wishes Charlie and Dave. Lets hope the coming weekend is a successful one.
  24. Shall I start saving now then BTW: Forecast on Magic Seaweed for Guernsey ( they dont have Alderney ) looks reasonable to my untrained eye. Long Range Forecast
