  1. All the best Martin.
  2. Nice write up indeed and the part I was particularily pleased with was :- "I discovered the club listening to BBC Radio Solent, which was promoting the previous year's event and the numbers of boats taking part seemed vast. " and "The club has one of the best websites for clubs like this; you can find all types of interesting stuff such as where all the big fish are, who is going fishing where and when or hits and tips on tackle and bait. "

  6. If asked the following question in a consultation regarding UK Fisheries in 2003 :- Does current government policy adequately reflect the different public interests in marine resources and environment ? How can biological, environmental, economic and social issues be addressed in an integrated manner ? Would you expect the answer to be this ? :- Sea Anglers undoubtably contribute to the local ( tourism ) economy, but they also fish the same resource putting pressure on stocks possibly not less than the inshore fleet. The Charter Angling fleet in Weymouth is quoted as being the largest in the UK. The retention of fish by sea anglers / unlicensed vessels needs to be addressed. They are all fishing the same stock.

  11. So when the guy from DEFRA states "We hope that a solution that is proportionate and practical can be identified by the SFC." I guess they are going to be disappointed as no change hardly fits the above bill.

  14. Jones Nets Fish of a Lifetime ..... Jones nets 'fish of a lifetime' By Echo Reporter Alun Jones with 18-8 bass A SUPERB specimen bass, which is one of the heaviest ever recorded from the Dorset coastline, was the highlight during the Poole Dolphins SAC open flounder and cod boat competition. Alun Jones, who is a member of Poole Bay Small Boat AC, caught the huge predator, which thumped the scales down to 18-8, after heading afloat in his own small boat Gastronaught'. Setting out from Christchurch, he was targeting a mark over Christchurch Ledge when the fish of a lifetime put in an appearance. However, it counted for nothing during the competition, which was fished for just two nominated species, cod and flounder. More than 180 competitors entered the event which was supported by the crew at Poole Sea Angling Centre and ABU. It saw some 75 go afloat in their own vessels and more than 100 went afloat from a Poole charter boat. advertisement The fishing was fairly good with 17 cod being returned to the scales along with five flounders over the qualifying weight of 2lb. The small boat section for the heaviest cod was won by Steve Lane with a fish weighing 11lb1oz. ........
