  1. or get a lift from another boat to take you from your boat to the weigh in with your catch ?
  2. Pinning this topic as the date is fast approaching. USA still a possibility for me and still looking for crew ( as still 50/50 I will be fishing ).
  3. Posting for Jimbob :
  4. I might get out Friday afternoon ( tides willing ) but depends on when I can escape from work. LW is at 19:00 so if I can get home by 16:00 at the latest then a trip out is just about viable. ( return would be around 21:00 ) Anyone fancy crewing ?

    Any Help Lads

Cracking ray. Make sure you record it in the catch reports ( if you haven't done so already ). PS: Jimbob is right, does look like you didnt need any help !
  6. Thank you for your sponsorship Indespension :-
  7. Friday afternoon / night was fantastic ( although we didn't find the larger bass. ) Launched for Christchurch at Low Water around 2 PM, no problem as the tides were so small. Stopped to have a crack at the mullet but they werent having none of our spinners. Saw Marineboy heading back in to collect Des and then back out after the bass. ( I am sure I saw a fly rod in use ). We opted for Xray, so feathered up some bait ( well at least my crew Steve did ! ) and then over to Xray. After the usual bout of dogfish I had something bigger. A dogged fight with the ray ( which failed to go uptide, so I knew it had to be a small eyed ) . 8lb 2 oz Small Eyed Ray then landed. Then Steve has a smaller one and I follow this up within the next 5 minutes with a bigger one which went 8lb 8oz. Then I caught another Small Eyed which was fighting as if it were a bass ( most impressive ). Fishing then quietened off, so we watched the trawer go past and then headed for the ledge. Tried drifting with some live joeys but nothing showing, so off to fish a mark next to Enticer after the Eels. Saw another Raider out there who I thought was James ( but turned out it wasn't ). We had bells and lights to clip to our fishing rods which caused Gordon to phone up and aks if Morris Dancers were onboard Steve had the best of the fishing at this mark with a reasonable Conger and a 3lb Bass while I stuck to clearing the area of dogfish. Then off to have a go at the sole ( might as well not have bothered though ). Back up the run at 3-30 AM through the morning mist and back home at 5 AM. Xray saved the day really, but first time I have night fished the ledge. Must give it another go sometime.
  8. Yes but 0.8 metres of it

    Spare Parts

One to be wary of. I managed to have both my engine cover clips partly break ( not sure how this happened either) . No problem as it is a warranty item. Reported to my local dealer they needed replacing nearly 2 months ago and still awaiting the stock to arrive from the States....... ( I am assuming this is because it is not a normal part to be held in stock, but 2 months is a bit extreme ).
  12. Sorry to hear about the engine Adam. You are always welcome to fish on Neo anytime you like. Where did you get the quote for the cylinder head ( and I presume they have had the head off to confirm it is cracked ? ).
  13. Planning on an evening / night fishing trip on Friday. Probably have a go at the sole, although I appreciate the tides are miniscule. Anyone fancy buddying up for safety ?
  14. Yes, Jim Whippy kindly called me back. All three comps fished so far have been received, so next BFM will have our 3 matches fished so far.

    Off Florida

A friend of a friend at work sent him this story. Thought it would interest you. This is an interesting catch...goes to show we need to keep an eye out the next time we're out there fishing in the Gulf! Some pretty good pics and story from some friends. If not for the pictures, no one would ever believe it. Talk about a fish tale! Last Saturday morning, my buddy Bo and I were trolling for stripers in the Bay. We were 1
  20. Noticed that there are no entries published for the club within the latest list. It is probably because our first match is the only one recorded. I have sent off 3 results sheets now and have queried with the competition organiser. Will know what has happened tomorrow hopefully.
  21. Andy, That is right next to where I work, if you want anything picking up / looking at.

    Red Arrows

News to me - I don't recall any restrictions when we last went to see them ( 2 years ago ) - and they go right over the top of the boats. Maybe we shouldn't have been where we were
  24. Neo has better capability now than last time when I was buddied witha boat that had insufficient fuel, went really slow and had an anchor rope which didn't reach the bottom Neo will endeavour to be there, provided I am not in the USA. will be "crew hunting" again if anyone interested.

    Anchor Retrieval

Tom Smith has got his anchor stuck and it is sitting out there buoyed off. It is on a bank something like 3 miles South from the Spoil Grounds. If anyone is passing that general area and able to pull it up for him he would be most grateful. ( I have the co-ordinates so call me on 07887 875964 if you can help ). regards Paul
