Apologies for the problems with the site. I had the site moved to another server and the web provider moved the DNS before I had a chance to set everything up. Forum should be up and running ( although image upload may be an issue ). Bear with me and all will be up and running again.

That looks a nice bit of kit Mike - the sceptical side of me though "pre-loaded must mean poor charts " - but nope, it is pre-loaded with bluecharts for the whole of the UK. I must get to have a look at yours when it is plumbed in. Tempting

No contact with the company although I came close to having contact with one of the survey boats once

My son is doing the same re: driving lessons but there is no way he is going anywhere near my car Happy Birthday Sam - your always welcome to crew when you can drive over.

Charlie, Haven't really got much need for the alphanumeric keys - these are only really needed to enter names of people you may want to call using DSC - I just select the name by toggling through the huge list of 3 which I have programmed in my radio - and even then trhey usually fail to answer ! I guess they will be useful if you have a large list of names programmed in.

It has just become evident to me that non club members - or members with expired club membership, are unable to read some of the posts appearing the "last Posts" list. Easy solution - joing the club and all will be accessible

All above e-mails should be enabled. I have PM'd details of how to set up your outlook express / outlook. I will try to write a slightly clearer step by step guide but let me know how you get on.

I assume you mean down Argyle Road. One of the advantages of having a smaller boat

Walked straight into that one I think However, many a true word spoken in jest and I would be first to admit that every trip is a learning experience and I am always learning and still have plenty to learn.

Sean, Wholeheartedly agree with the comments posted here. 3 years ago I was a complete novice as well and had just bought my first boat. Joining this club was the best move I could have made. Now catching more fish and more importantly doing it safely.

Andy, Glad to see you had an enjoyable day. Good to see you find this forum useful and I can recommend joining the club for the cameraderie, tips and safety aspects. BTW: Did you launch out of Christchurch ?

Great fish Dan. I lost a really good fish just before you landed that eel - Had one rod out with a live joey and 17lb trace ( hoping for a bass ) and one for the eels with a 150lb mono trace. Guess which one the eel took ! Had the eel on for around 5 mins but then the trace didnt hold when the eel spun Still had an enjoyable day nonetheless. Fishing XRay caught a 2lb 7oz bream ( female full of eggs ). Mackeral were showing all over. My friend from work on his first boat trip enjoyed himself with the constant bream and doggy action ! I forgot how well those eels fight - definitely going back for more again ! Coming back through the run there was a speedboat which I pointed out to my friend as it was smoking a lot - only to realise that this one was smoking a little excessively....... as we neared the boat we could see, and smell, that this engine was a little hot ( broken impellor ) - so we towed them back up the harbour. Would be interesting to see if the engine had survived. PS: I want my hook back from that eel

Have been off work all this week ( what good timing with the weather ). Went to Bath Tuesday and Weds and then persuaded Helen to go fishing on Thursday. Off to the ledge after the bream and only 2 boats out there yesterday. Anchored down in my usual mark and Helen baits up and lowers her squid to the bottom. I am baiting up and Helen is into a fish after 30 secs ! - and it was a reasonable 2lb Bream. She then has a second fish of similar size. I then had a nice male fish and the fishing continued like this for the next hour. As the tide ran faster the bites seemed to diminish. As I was considering moving Helen was into a bigger fish a nice female of 2lb 11oz and shortly after I had a male of exactly the same size. Overall must have had 20 odd fish all reasonable size and every one was returned ( no barbecue in next few days ). Then moved to Xray where I had a few doggies and small bream ( loads of them there ) plus a couple of mackeral. Great weather to be out and the fishing was good too.

Have crew for Saturday now ( friend from work for his first time boat fishing ). Undecided yet where to fish ( in the East or around Christchurch ), will decide on the day when I see what the weather is doing.

Wont need to wait...... LW is at 01:00 AM and HW is at 06:37 AM then LW at 13:29 ... I will be up for a trip out and looking for crew also. Weather will have to be nice though. If anyone fancies Sowley I am still up for a smoothie hunting trip.

Dan, I am fishing tomorrow ( Thurs ) and windguru looks exceedingly good re: Sat - I am still crewless and happy to fish from Christchurch ( will probably opt for the Wick launch though ) or Lymington. If you want some hardbacks I could get some on Friday as I am off for the week - let me know.

Alun, The biggest fish is definitely worth recording. My best for the day was one of 2lb 9oz but found the bream hard to find today. If we had fished a species comp then we would have been well in as we had Bream, mackerel, garfish, wrasse, pollock, pout, dogfish. Lovely day to be out but I had a bad headache all day ( lack of sleep I think ). Intereresting observation on way back in to Christhcurch. Richard said - "look at that deer" - I couldnt see it at first and then realised he meant the one swimming across from Stanpit to Hengistbury Head !! - We turned around and made sure all the boat traffic could see it. Quite impressive swimmers.
