  3. I have following booked in :- Have following booked in for comp tomorrow :- Neo Splash Out Imagine IV AWOL Whistler ( Pete Russel and Tony Devine ) Nipper Sammy Maltese Stingray Gastronaught Marineboy any more takers ?
  4. Went out for a quick trip with PJ on Marineboy. Beautiful conditions heading out. Passed Eddie in Pink Squid on the way out and got a thumbs-up so hopefully he caught some bream. Out to the ledge through the new run and 30 knots + we were soon at the ledge. Went past Duncan ( who was on a mark I have never fished myself ) and onto "the mark". Steady flow of doggies, doggies but no bream for us. Duncan came over and anchored close by and after a while himself and Sam had their first bream of the season. Slow fishing ( we were only there for a couple of hours ) but beats sitting in front of the TV. Marineboy absolutely flys with the 60HP E-Tec on the back. Great fun. Thanks for the trip Paul.

    Mudeford Bar

Yes - it is deeper but I have been reliably informed ( Paul J ) that you need to keep a bit further left of the first set of red buoys as the bar comes out a bit between them. Much improved though, although a little narrow at the start. I was wondering if a new channel was dredged or if that channel has always been there whilst we struggled over the shallow part.

    Trim Tabs

My friends Orkney 23 has hydraulic tabs fitted.

    Tow Car

I think you are confusing him with someone else
  9. I am going to await the report on Radar Reflectors before ordering one. The other interesting parts were the use of crotch straps on a lifejacket and the recommendations re: liferaft.
  10. It's NOT a bream comp, nor is it a Species comp ( my mistake ). It is a specimen comp ( as in biggest specimen wins ). My money is on a Bream to win. ....
  11. Paul, If you fail to get crew ( or I fail to get crew as well ) then I will be happy to crew on MarineBoy.
  12. Adam, Good to see the bream in - must get out myself sometime soon. That Faeton I saw the other day when out and remarked to PJ I think it was ( or was it Mike F ) that it looked similar to the one I think Adam was after...
  13. Anyone want to crew on Neo from Christchurch ( Wick ) for the species comp on Sunday ? Drop me a PM if interested. or call me on 07887 875964
  14. Martin, I didnt think the first one was a BFM comp one, ( Not according to the comp details page anyway )

    Trim Tabs

Difference I noted was that the boat planed at a lower speed ( around 4-5 knots ) The nose is lower now and the boat is not so jittery ( ie. Its movement is damped ) - although still gets a little lively if steaming at speed into a wave with crew members standing up ( centre of gravity high in the boat ). However, I do have 5HP excess of power available. Biggest difference I noticed was I can run trimmed in a neutral position and porpoising is all but eliminated. Before fitting I had to trim the engine right in to eliminate porpoising. My friend has an Orkney 23 and he has trim tabs fitted to his boat as well.
  16. Was just going to add that myself and Martin beat me to it
  17. Charlie, Also, not "au-fait" with the planing speed of Shetlands, but presumably they are semi displacement similar to Orkneys ? In which case, I would expect the boat to plane earlier than 12 knots when fitted with trim tabs. ( maybe another Shetland owner can comment on this ). Maybe some adjustment ( ie. increase lift ) is needed ? My 520 planes at around 5 to 6 knots with the smart tabs fitted and that is with a fair amount of weight in the back as well.
  18. Nice interesting ( and slightly amusing ) read. I like the part about the board to get the boat clamped down onto the trailer - could do with that on mine. Many parts were familiar ( as in many of these slip ups I have, and if honest, I think we all have, made ). I am impressed with the thorough preparation,

    Trim Tabs

Nauticus Smart Tabs - superb service as well. You can e-mail them at info@nauticusinc.com and they were most helpful when I chose ones to fit mine. PS: I was promised a bag of bits from them to repair the broken plastic strut on mine ( superglued for now ).

    Ice Machine

    Me too please.
  21. Charlie, Probably mine that you recall reading about. My teleflex cable snapped last year whilst returning to Wick. Probably a teleflex cable that you require - just get the correct length one ( ie. same as one you have ). Quay west will sort you out - they are really helpful and competitive prices as well.
  22. Nice fish Paul.
  23. As a footnote, I measured the Bass using my new BASS tape measure. The fish was showing an estimated weight from the length of 5 lb. Pretty accurate as the fish weighed 5lb 8oz. ( It had been gourging itself on my groundbait ).

    More Bream

Stunning fishing Al. I think you have to get right on the mark there ( and Aquafresh certainly has a knack ). By the way, did the fishing slow up once we got there in the afternoon ? ( we had no signs of any bream ).
  25. Should have got Mike to reel it up for you We had wrasse, bass and doggies and was a nice pleasant day out with George and Mike Fox. Unfortunately couldnt christen Georges new rod with a decent bream ( well any bream ). Hoped to fish the mark when I swung around onto it on the ebb but some other boat got in the way
