  1. Alun, Might have some nice fresh fillets for you come Friday evening
  2. Good to see some plaice appearing. Was it caught on a flounder rig or was it a "blingy" plaice rig ? Don't forget to send in a catch report plz

    Hooks

I did exactly the same Bob. Rust city for some of my old hooks, but most are OK as I covered them in Pilchard Oil ( the stuff stinks though ). I like the Varivas Big Mouth hooks - just bought some more of these as they are great for the bassing with livebaits. Two boxes of large hooks for eels / cod which are starting to corrode. A pile of various other hooks - circles ( which I too am not comfortable using ) and some half circles. Also found 3 Gemini disgorgers.

    Bearing Sizes

Does anyone know the size of a Charter Special reel bearing ( in particular the spool bearings. ) I have found the outer bearing sizes but cant find the spool bearing sizes for love nor money.
  6. Sam, Do worry! It is easy to report the fish using the "Record a Catch" button at the top and it gets recorded in a database automatically - we shouldn't be relying on someone else ( ie. you ) to pick up the reports.

    Vhf / Fm..

Was interested by this post, so have done some studying. The antennae need to be at least 1/4 wavelength apart ( which in the case of VHF is 1/2 metre or around 19 inches ) and then spaced at odd number of 1/4 wavelengths ( for max attenuation between them ). eg. 19 inches apart good 38 inches apart ( 1/2 wavelength ) bad 57 inches apart better I would recommend against having 2 marine VHF sets connected ( ie. one to each antenna ) - but that was not your plan. Actually, on Neo I have two aerials - one "rubber duck" style one and the VHF one.

Adam, Sound reasonable to me. Prodigy has a twin aerial setup, so suggest you take a look at how they are rigged. I can't see it being a problem as the transmitter and receiver are on different frequencies provided the separation is sufficient. ( A long time ago I could have calculated it all ). However, I have just read Reg's note and he has a point, although I suspect that this will not damage the radio as the distance is sufficient ( along with diff freqs ). Otherwise you would be destroying your GPS every time you transmit. I would checkout Prodigy.
  9. I understand ( from Terry ) that it is a 7 AM start at the Bath Road slipway.
  10. Agreed re: forecast. It was getting quite windy when I was in the harbour with PJ and the wind was really cold. A day for staying in I think ( or watching Bournemouth lose again )
  11. I use whiplash on all my reels apart from one which is loaded with climax, which is awful IMHO.

    Slight

Went and "fished" Christchurch Harbour this afternoon with PJ. Wind picked up and is bitterly cold. I was glad we were in the harbour and not outside.
  13. That will do nicely Adam
  14. Adam, Stick Neo down and I believe that Sam C will be crewing. I will be needing someone to tow Neo onto the beach though, as don't fancy taking my Civic down there.
  15. Cracking fish Gordon. Looks a bit lumpy out there !!
  16. Yes, I noticed that PJ's was reported with the wrong date. Probably filled it in incorrectly I presume.
  17. Charlie, You should have one from Paul J and one from Alun J. I have the e-mails and entries in my database. 4 1/2 months and 21 fish logged in the database using the catch report form, fishing is indeed slow......
  18. You will have a message saying "active content - click to run" at the top of your browser ? - If so click to allow it to run. You have to allow java applets to run on your PC ( somewhere in internet options ). If you cant get this running then the competition will be hard/impossible to enter....
  19. He would probably use it and catch one with it
  20. If its a tip for Adam then I might change the fly to this one
  21. Fly here
  22. First Piccie here
  23. Looks very interesting Charlie. I think I will pop along to that and take a look. I will add to the calendar
  24. OK, OK - Due to popular demand, etc. etc. It has returned.
