There were two golfers on the golf course. One of the men pulled out a cigarette, and asked his friend for a light. His friend pulls out a 12 inch Bic lighter. - "Woah, where did you get such a large Bic?" - "Oh, my genie got it for me." - "Your genie? You have a genie? Where is he?" - "He is in my golf bag." - "Can I see him?" So the friend looks in the bag and out comes the genie. The man says to the genie; "I am your master's best friend. Would you grant me just one wish?" The genie says "yes, just one wish". So the man wishes for a million bucks. The genie goes back in the golf bag without saying a word. Pretty soon, the sky starts to get dark. Then it gets even darker. The man looks up and sees a million ducks. He gets real upset, and says "what is the matter with your genie? Is he hard of hearing? I said a million Bucks, not a million Ducks." "Do you really think I asked for a 12 inch Bic?"

Guys I have a chromed brass /stainless steel adjustable rail mount as per http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rail-Mount-Rod-Holde...id=p3286.c0.m14 or, for same price http://www.nautequipe.co.uk/p2078/Chrome-O...oduct_info.html I got mine from nautequipe (stevetheboat)but they dont seem to have them in stock currently Its a brilliant piece of kit adjustable in 10degree( increments and built like a brick...house I only have one and use it as a Flag mast support cum Black Ball mast support its mounted on the crossrail over the roof of my cabin. If I was going to permanently fit rail mount rod holders (and I had the money ) these would be the bad boys I would use Peteg

[see you soon - I owe you a trip! Max ] Just make sure you've got those "Monster Marks" sorted out when I take you up on it. I should be able to spend some more time on the boat over the next few weeks so I'll keep an eye out for you. Boat deserves a bit of TLC having been abandonded for so long Tight Lines Peteg

Managed a quick trip out from Cobbs and into the Bay Today.First time out since April Weather was great and I took the opportunity to take out 4 Generations of the Gasson Family for a quick blast and dangle of the rods My 87 year old Mother(who is as spry as they come ) thoroughly enjoyed the trip as did my Daughter and Granddaughter and me of course. We managed some bream each and a couple of small pollack all taken on baited feathers. Managed to Wave To our Chairman as we were exiting the Harbour entrance but couldn't really keep up with him as Boats bottom and Trim Tabs are pretty weedy and need a good scrub. Best I could do today at around 5000rpm was 18knots 4 up. Trip was as usual eventful as 1. My fixed VHF didn't work properly ....No sound output from internal speaker. 2. My Hydraulic steering was rubbish due to lack of fluid in the wheel pump. No real Safety issues with either as I had a handheld VHF and my previous non DSC VHF on the boat both of which work fine. Just got to fix the Silva S10 now. The Steering which needed vigorous lock to lock movements to keep boat in a straight line or to answer helm was temporarily sorted with a top up of hydraulic fluid which I happened to have stashed on board. This is more of a tricky problem as I cant find a leak and I had a new replacement Hydraulic Ram fitted last year for a similar problem. That One was definately leaking. Ah well the Joys of owning a Money Pit. Got a Bit of Repair work to do again. Lovely Day Out though

Careful Sea Eagle If the aerial has become open-circuit, using the VHF in Transmit mode could damage it. They dont like transmitting into an "Open Load". I suggest you replace the Aerial. Its cheaper than a new VHF Peteg

Congrats Tom Some great fish, a great report and pics and as you say it'll give Dan (The Eel King)the incentive (if ever he needed it)to get back out there and catch even bigger . Reckon you're going to be seeing a lot of that wreck Charlie Peteg -
Terry, I had quite a few braid breakages on my last trip out in April I gotta get back out soon I am pretty sure they were all upstream of the shock leader mono/braid knot In the panic of quickly retying a new leader with an Albright knot (I used 15 turns and doubled braid) to minimise lost fishing time I failed to notice that the braid was fluffing in areas up to 12 foot back from knot. Only found out when I got back home. Having in the meantime lost another set of terminal tackle due to breakage I put it down to the braid being trapped on the bottom in rocks or other likely crevices due to either tide, or fish(I had some eels on which I failed to land) I dont think it would have happened if I had been holding the rod at ALL times but if fishing more than one rod one has got to take preference. I now make it habit to strip back around 4 metres of braid and re-tie leader after each trip........Dont worry my trips are so few and far between I don't get through a lot of braid Peteg
